Best solution: wear your seatbelt. lol. I've never heard the chime (didn't know there was one).

You should hear the Alfa Romeo 4C's seat belt alarm if you think the Jag's chime is annoying.

How much wine do you buy? A case will even fit in the vert mini-trunk.
Even better, it should be possible to fit a quite a few full wine bags (6 bottles each) in the trunk without using the passenger seat.
I speak as the husband of a wine aficionado (and drinker)!!

I'm not sure the weight limit that sets off the alarm, but a single case can be +/- 40 lbs, and that's not talking the weight of something like a crystal bottle, etc. I work in Hospitality and F&B, my and my wife's hotels make wine, we've friends that make wine, and we've made wine, and we're +/- 20 mins from Sonoma and Napa Wine country and are wine club members, and I have a nearby passive storage unit in lieu of my house being too hot and not appropriate for storage. I'm constantly moving multiple cases around, and sometimes my trunk is storage for other stuff (we're massive purgers and I've always got stuff for Goodwill).

But I just looked at the old links, and although I'm not even remotely libertarian, and I think only morons choose not to wear a seat belt... it's a totally legitimate need to turn it off if you're hauling something like a carpet cleaner with the top down, or my portable air condition that barely fits, etc. I protect the seat, etc, but I should be able to turn it off in that case.

The seat belt "slugs" I bought work perfectly. I might have a single extra one, and I'd only need one for the passenger side. I always wear mine! If anyone is interested, I'll go look at see if I still have the 2nd one.

But you could just buy an old ebay seatbelt and take the buckle off and use that.

It would appear you can not find these "slugs" anywhere anymore (above two links are dead and 404), because without addressing the above needs, it's safe to safe selling those on an open market would lead to more deaths of stupid people, so I think they've been banned for sale on amazon or ebay. That's my guess. I'd assume my usage scenario is 10% vs the 90% that feel their freedoms are being stripped, while they end up in the hospital and our tax dollars paying for their emergency room visits.

My understanding of the seatbelt warning is that it is a safeguard against airbag injuries for smaller passengers, like children. The sensors want either an empty seat, or the weight of a typical adult.

So, couldn't you belt in TWO cases of wine to make it over the weight threshold?

When I put a case of wine in the passenger seat I buckle it in, and have never heard any warning chime. It's precious cargo, after all.

Also, no unsecured loads in the passenger compartment. I might need to "maneuver."

Assuming you've opened some bottles in the case for easy consumption while driving, how many emptys do you have to throw out the window to silence the alarm?

This is a high school physics problem.

This is a really good point, and you remind me the most I hear the time is when I do put a bunch of grocery bags in the front seat
