Wow..260 MPH could be considered "reckless" on any track...even a prepped one I have had my F-Type to ~170+ MPH and my 911 TT to ~200 MPH....Cannot imagine 260 on a public road. The closing speed is crazy even at 200, and cannot imagine what it is like at 260! Will be interesting to see how this unfolds.

Max I ever did was 225kph (140mph) on the autobahn in a big rental Mercedes back in the 70's.
I was still being passed by Porsches!
But I did make my tight flight schedule.

What has always amazed me about travelling 'at speed' is how boring it can feel in a modern, capable car. I have done some rather high speeds here in the UK and it all felt quite 'sedate', right up until you approach a car that is doing normal speeds - as already pointed out, the closing speeds are crazy and all it takes is one slight misstep from another road user and you're in a world of hurt at those speeds. For my part, I almost always worked on the "there's a time and a place" principle and after doing 150mph a few times, just because the car was capable of it with ease, I didn't really feel the need to do it regularly - I had far more fun doing lower speeds on trackdays. Oh and I still miss the fun I had in my 106 GTi - a car that you could extract nearly 100% of it's ability at fairly safe speeds around country lanes.

My only concern with the person that made the video is that it hastens the calls to remove the derestricted sections of the Autobahn. Speed is never the problem, inappropriate speed is.

They either don't have a speed limit or the do. Can't leave that up to 'interpretation'.

260 is insane. To each their own but wished he didn’t video record/share it and it would have been even better if he did it in a isolated/controlled environment where he wouldn’t have put anyone else’s life at potential risk.

Fastest I've ever driven is eight laps around Daytona at 155 mph flat out the entire time. At that place, feels like you're doing 60.

305km/h here. You better be looking as far down the road as you can see.

German public prosecutor is onto Passer (the driver). According to the police department in Saxony-Anhalt, if Passer is found guilty, he will likely face a prison sentence of up to two years for illegal racing. Bugatti seems not to be very pleased with this publicity, but the irony for Bugatti is that the automobile company once congratulated Passer and his team for a top speed run in 2014, where he took the Bugatti Veyron up to 404km/h on a public road.

Most of the Autobahn kilometers here in Germany have a speed-limit. Often 120 - 130 kph. Only a few sections are without restrictions. In Germany we have a law that states that you are automatically partly to blame if you drive over 130 km/h, even if you are actually innocent of the accident.
The background is the fact that up to this speed you still show a certain reaction.
We also have a law that applies if you try to reach a maximum speed as quickly as possible on your own. This will then count as an illegal street race, even if you are alone!
So it's not as great as everyone says.
But you are right, drive fast is much fun.
I´ve had my V6 on 270 kp/h with open roof and windows. Nice
