Default How to Fix Fault Codes P0164 (O2) & C1B02-16 (ABS)?

Finally, the day has arrived where my O2 sensor has stopped working. I am receiving the error codes P0164, related to O2 (bank 2, sensor 3), and C1B02-16, related to the ABS return pump circuit.

I have a couple of questions for the experts out there:

1. Is the P0164 sensor located near the rear passenger side cylinder? Also, could you suggest where I can purchase the part from? Although it is covered under warranty, I prefer avoiding the software zap.

2. I am not sure what the issue with C1B02-16 is. Is it related to a fuse or sensor? I do not see any other warning lights except the solid check engine light on the center console.

By the way, these issues have not impacted my driving experience so far. In fact, I am noticing more pops than usual. Should I be concerned?

I just had the same thing happen WRT my O2 sensor. My dealer fixed it under warranty and I asked them not to update the software, so they didn't.

Remind me again, what’s the best way to check if they didn’t zap it with software? Was your check engine light also throwing C1B02-16 code?

Best way to check is put the car in Dynamic mode and then shut it off. With the original software, it would remember the Dynamic setting if you restarted it within 6 hours of the last ignition off event. With the updated software, the mode reverts to Normal mode with every ignition cycle.

You know I had not known this before. I did just checked mine though and confirmed that it did stay in dynamic after turning it off and on again.

Figured out bank 2 is driver side and sensor 3 is by the bend of the cylinder. Found the part too.

C1B02-16 is still a mystery as to why that would show up under check engine light & what to do with that.

Have you seen that Jaguar extended the O2 warranty?
It does cover your 2017 model too. 10 years/120K miles on the V-8's and 15 years/150K miles on the V-6's.
Might be worth a shot?

Note that they claim to offer a refund if the repair has already been paid for. Well good luck with that! I had an O2 failure on my 2014 XJR (Which is also included in this TSB) and repaired it myself before I was aware of this extended warranty. Sent in my claim and receipt and nothing. I did get one comment from this forum that they probably would NOT cover it unless the repair was done by a dealer.

I went ahead and replaced both of them in that position on both sides. The cost was in the $70 range or so. I did NOT buy the O2 sensor from Jaguar!

So I took the car out for a drive (5mile) and had no issues. Check engine light was on. Anyhow, after an hour or so when I started the car again, check engine light was gone.

What does that mean? My sensor suddenly came back to its senses?

I am waiting for the o2 sensor part to be delivered and was going to replace it this weekend. I am wondering if I should wait. Any thoughts?

I'm having the same issue. Purchased the car about a month ago - 2019 still under warranty. The 1st time the check engine light came on was right after a filling up for the 1st time. Maybe gas cap? It stayed on for a few days while I discussed with dealer (and found this site), then it went away. The 2nd time it happened it only stayed lit for one short drive, then was gone. Car drives great. I'll get it checked out before warranty expires, but from what I've learned, I'm not too worried. If it's O2 sensors, I'm covered with the extended warranty. .

My understanding is that as long as check engine light is not blinking, it’s nothing serious. I’ll probably replace my o2 sensor anyway, do not want dealer anywhere near my vehicle and zap the amazing sounds it makes.

By the way, you can go to your local autozone parts store and they read the data for free (quick in and out instead of waiting at dealer).

Not sure this is true, my car had an code and not blinking. Dealer and internet said do not drive and take to the dealer ASAP. It was a clogged injector.

I was planning on replacing the o2 sensor myself, but when I tried to remove it, I wasn't successful. I decided to take it to a local shop to get it checked, and the mechanic said that it wasn't just one o2 sensor but multiple and the reader is showing the catalytic converter also being bad. He suggested that I take it to the dealer to have it looked at, as it would be covered under warranty according to NJ laws. So, I took it to the dealer and they did their own diagnosis and found that the catalytic converter was indeed the issue. Luckily, it was covered under the emission warranty. However, I am now wondering if there is anything else I should have checked out, such as the spark plugs? I ensured they understood not to update the software. I can't imagine the stock tune would push so much unburnt fuel to damage the catalytic converter? Surprisingly, the check engine light is still off.
