Maybe your 2017 has already had this patch applied?

I also tested TracDSC in all modes this morning to see if there is an effect on the intensity of fireworks. As much as I had hoped to confirm it, I didn't notice any difference.

I did learn something new. Turning on Dynamic while in TracDSC reverts it back to full DSC mode. However, you can turn it back on while in Dynamic.

Had the K309 O2 sensor calibration firmware installed yesterday, along with an oil change. No difference in sound. We've often speculated that dynamic mode is 'learning', and it seems more passive than when I took it in, so I suspect it forgot what it learned.

I'll have to find somewhere to drive it aggressively, to teach it a lesson, so to speak.

You have a very naughty car that needs to be punished!

Perhaps I should go back to Maine. Everyone drives fast up there...

You should. Jay needs a playmate for the weekend.

16% grade w/ starting elevation at 98.9ft to end elevation of 14.5ft over 1257 ft distance, engine breaking in 2nd gear from 28mph to 22 mph.

Make it happen. It sounds like a contented, happy thing. burbling gurgling pops the whole way. It happens in front of a school, and I refrain from telling all the "any funny bystander reactions" stories from this. It's the best. I'll film it when my go pro mount happens, because it's glorious. It's every morning.

With the MT, if you shift at the precise moment you hit red-line, you get a glorious single canon "shot heard around the world".

I did it under a long motorway bridge today for the first time.

It is as loud and rapid as automatic gunfire when lifting off the throttle in 2nd at 4,000 rpm in an enclosed space. So much fun... and so childish. I did appologise to the pedestrian about 200 yards clear of the bridge who jumped for their life, but I don't think they heard me.

I've found my new route home, even if it is a few miles of detour.

Sadly no propper tunnels in my part of the UK. I feel a summer road trip to Switzerland may be in order...

I've made the mistake of hitting the rev limiter in 1st gear. Not a nice sound - sounds like the engine is blowing up. But, it is loud.

The trick is to shift at just the right time for a single massive backfire instead of issuing a series of misfires.

My 14V8s just came back from its two year service. Thanks to the forum and Cambo's listing of the bulletins I let them do the K309 O2 sensor fix and the fix for the fix! Sounds just as it should on my spirited drive home. 2 year service replaces several items, cleans the injection systems and of course the oil change, fluids, wiper replacement and a bunch of other items. Came to a little over $500 which wasn't all that bad at all. Only downside was the loaner this time was a Jeep Patriot. What a piece of crap

I thought the 14s got free service for at least 3 years. Not true?

My MY 2015 R will go into it's second service this Monday and the K309 O2 sensor calibration will be done.

I will report back with the result. Should be easy to notice any changes, as it pops and crackles all the time in loud mode when I go of the throttle.

Not true. First service was free. After that, you get a sharp stick in the eye...

Got the car back from service today, but forgot to ask if the O2 sensor modification was done. They did say they would do it when I ordered the service, but I can't see anything related to this on the detailed service documentation received. Will call and ask tomorrow.

One thing is sure though, and that is that it pops and crackles just like it did before.

Edit: just checked with the dealer now, and they could confirm that the K309, O2 sensor modification has been done. And as I said yesterday, there is no change in sound level and/or the amount of pops and crackle after the modification (software) was carried out.
