How much is a fair price to fix the side bumper / trim?

Ran over a piece of wood late at night, heard a big thunk... and found a nasty cut on the side trim part.

Basically the part that is right under the door which is made out of some sort of plastic, it is the part marked number 1:

Unfortunately seems like I'll have to get it replaced, before I go to the dealer and have them try to clean me out... any tips for handling this in a smart fashion so I don't get ripped off too badly?

Not a dealer job. A body shop will be needed to paint that new part properly. You can probably save a bit by buying the part yourself and providing it to the shop rather than them buying it from the dealership.
