How to remove control arm bushing from ball joint?
Hi everyone,
Can anyone help with how to separate this silver cylindrical 'bushing' piece from the steering knuckle ball joint stud? Do I just use a ball joint separator to pull it off of the stud?
I am replacing the front lower rear control arm with a new one, and while I successfully separated the existing control arm from the cylindrical piece with a ball joint separator:
I don't know how to also remove the cylindrical bushing itself from the ball joint stud - as the new control arm has the cylindrical bushing already pressed into the arm.
Lastly, after this bushing is removed, how would I seat the new control arm all the way back onto the ball joint stud? Just seat it as I tighten the nut, or would that damage the nut?
Any help appreciated!! Thanks!!

I did use a ball joint separator tool to separate the control arm from the silver bushing/sleeve. Would like to know if I can separate the sleeve from the ball joint stud inthe same way, i.e. using the ball joint tool?

I think so!
You know there was a whole bunch of adapters in the box!
Assuming you have to move the joint up. Cannot see it all.
Kroil oil. then an adapter and a bottle jack. Jack it up a little and give the arm a little wack.
Or the tool. My kid and I have done this stuff in the past. Carefully.
I have worked on MG's and Triumphs in the past. Now that I am retired, the Jag works. I pay others to fix it.
