How to remove rear view mirror?
I need to remove the plastic cover over the rear view mirror area, in order to hopefully tap power off for a radar detector. I do not know how to remove this cover without breaking it, and have not been able to find any instructions. How can I do this?
There seem to be several different varieties of mirrors, so I included a picture of the one in my 2014 V6 S.
Thanks.

Hmm. Thanks. It seems there are many varieties of mirror. Mine is not quite the same. There is a seam in the middle, but I can't tell if it comes apart there or if it is just a mold mark.

Sorry for the misleading information.

Upon further inspection, it does LOOK like it should separate horizontally, but I cannot make the gap budge at all without putting too much pressure on it.
I suppose in the meantime I can just use a long black phone cord and run it temporarily along one of the A pillars. Will look kinda tacky though.

Update:
I managed to remove the plastic housing. I used a plastic "spudger" that I had for cell phone repairs, and used that to pry along the bottom of the plastic housing. It popped off easier than expected, and after it was off I was able to separate the left and right halves.

Thank you, I got it on, and got my radar detector wired up.
Out of curiosity, does anybody know what it in the little plastic housing to the right of the mirror? I assume it is some sort of antenna. GPS antenna (Nothing in my car uses a cell connection that I know of, so it can't be that).
It gets in the way of the radar detector slightly.

Brilliant!
From memory, you have to rotate the mirror assemble about 90 degrees. Then, the hexagonal bolt thing will fit over, and then can be rotated back to normal position. The hexagonal bolt thing is not actually symmetrical, it turns out, but is wider in one direction than the other.
