Replacing the “soft touch” cover on the cup holder does NOT require dismantling any part of the console. I say that because I have done it….my recollection (some years ago) is that with the cover “open” it is obvious that the “soft touch” surface is an overlay. All that is required is to slide a very narrow blade gently between the cover base and the overlay to release its tabs: fitting the new cover is a simple matter of “fit and press”.
This, at least, is what my post-Covid memory tells me. But I definitely do not recall removing a side panel for access.
All the post-2000 Jaguar ashtray and cup holder covers, whether wood veneer or otherwise, are “fit and press” finishers (with tabs).

jnnt29, maybe You´re right if You only want to replace te specific cover of the cupholder itself, but my bet is that both other pannels will be in the same kind of state and for those I thin it is really necessary to remove the side pannels. I never disassembled it specifically for that purpose so I was with my mind in something else, but I eventually took it out and back in because sooner or later I want to have them painet gloss black....Side pannels come out very easy anyway.
Let us know hot it worked...
