How to update navigation maps without InControl

There is a recent Topic here on updating the navigation maps for F-Types with InControl, but I haven't been able to find anything on the older cars (like ours).
I don't think it is worthwhile to pay a dealer $199 USD to do this, since we COULD just use Google Maps or Waze. Still, it would nice to have updated road configurations. (When we had our F for 2 months, the nav directed me to turn the wrong way onto as newly posted one-way street!)![Icon Captain](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_captain.gif)

Anybody have better SEARCH skills than I?

I don't know of any way to update the maps other than the licensed (paid) update. I've done the update once, but am unwilling to pay for an annual update. I did it myself with the USB stick the company mailed me. It takes a ridiculously long time and the instructions to resume the update after restarting were just a little off, but it did work. The update is keyed to the VIN, so no sharing amongst friends.
