whoah, I got busy, had not had a chance to view the thread and all heck breaks loose! Thanks for everyone's attention to this. In my case, the mystery is solved. Partly due to everyone's feedback, and also, calling a local dealer to confirm, I bought it last Friday and it arrived last night around 9:30pm. Nothing like inspecting a delivered car with a bright flashlight in the dark, but I've done it before.
2016, 3,666 miles! They asked $59,990. When I saw that advertised price and the miles, I hopped all over it. I did not want it to get scooped up. I got it for $59,000 and also bought a 5-year drivetrain warranty (which I may or may not keep). It was a trade-in at Dominion Audi in San Antonio Texas. I like trade-ins because the dealer usually does the person who trades it in, so wrong, that they can get the car for a lot lower $$ that they would pay at auction (I had been monitoring Manheim closely as well) and then pass (some) savings on to you. Peace Of Mind auto inspector (Joe was his name) confirmed no cigarette smell (considering the low miles, honestly, this was my biggest concern) and did a fine inspection. Car smells like new leather.
The local Silicon Valley dealers are hanging onto their lower miles 2016s and 2017s like the talons of a mother eagle, trying to magically squeeze the rapidly declining used Jag market up instead of down. Monterey has a white one at 7k miles that they have had for a YEAR! They want $63k for it, and are stuck in a state of denial. Out there, in the lot for a year, the dash baking in the California sun....
That said, last night after I warmed it up, was my first test-drive! I had only sat in the car in Monterey to confirm fit (I'm 6'4"). It is a monster! The YouTube videos and postings here gave me enough confidence to just buy one. And will likely replace my aging 2008 E63 M6 with an ESS supercharger (650bhp and about 450 lb ft, up from 500hp and 380 lb ft stock)). Both cars are horrifying, but the AWD on the F-type locks up in a way the RWD M6 cannot, giving The F-type an edge with 100 less hp than the M6 (but, more torque than the M6)
Nice topic. It seems shocking but all you need to do is.... turning your wheels max to one side and look for the drive shaft.... Old school method. Is it not... ;D
Still easier to just look at the hood vents ... no effort or bending down needed.
