Default Hud 2016 xf

The F type is in getting new rear Pirellis today (7600 miles) and was given 1400 mile 2016 xf loaner. I was able to activate HUD and frankly its merely an annoyance and though sounds good in theory its really only another gimmick with little utility.

That being said the interface screen the 2016 xf is much nicer that the one on the 2016 r which is a year old. the 2016 was a vast improvement over prior and this seems another jump ahead IN THE SAME MODEL YEAR. Is there a software flash to update?

agreed it is very annoying

was a novelty on the f80 m3 i test drove for about 3 seconds, then i turned it off

i'm also struggling with the new audi virtual cockpit

i've also been curious if you could update the screen s/w to have it like the current pinch&zoom map xe/xf 8" touch screen - it appears to be same hardware

jag are putting the new 10" touch screen in the XE facelift too, will be looking at one again when they release later this year

I love HUD on my BMW 650i. It shows speed limit , current speed, navigation directions and several other useful items that prevent my from taking my eyes off the road. I'm going to miss it when I buy an F-type.

Yes, I really found HUD very useful on my Z06 as well, particularly on the track. The first time you drive a car so equipped, I can see why some might find it annoying or distracting, but you very quickly accommodate to it, or get quite dependent on it. It's a hell of a lot safer than looking down for the same info.
