I am so freaking needy. Tracking body and option changes over the years?

Just a note...
I'm swapping out my 20" wheels, but the 18" wheels came with Continental Sport Contact 2 tires, instead of the Pirelli P-Zeros.
Is that the first time they got rid of those things, and put on a better tire? It's still wouldn't be my first choice, but anything seems to be an improvement.

I remember testing a base with 18" tires to see if I could "get by" with one vs an S. I remember it had Conti's, don't know if they were Sport Contact 2's, but it handled horribly. I punched it going onto a right hand freeway entrance and it understeered like a ****. Ummm... I'm sticking to an S.

At one time JLR put out an CPO booklet that tracked the model year changes. I have no idea if they still do. This thread is a keeper. I enjoyed seeing the Umbrella Holder was $140. That translates to $70 for each strip of velcro. Of course I had a set of lambswool mats in the XK8 so I am in no position to criticize. I shutter to think what they would cost today.

Thanks for confirming. It's obvious side by side, but even those pics didn't do a good job and I was second guessing myself!

So, 48 hours into swapping a 2016 for a 2019, here's what I know....
I joked earlier... confirmation bias, selective perception, and cognitive dissonance.... a HELL of a drug. But I thought I didn't like the new headlamps, but I do. They look like serious lashes on a mean kitty. =)
I thought I didn't like the single open side area of the grill, vs *my* vertical gill, and above we see the horizontal one as well. I do like the new design.
For some reason, including the extended splitter, the car feels "longer"?? You can see my old vertical gill close up vs the new open look in that shot of the car. My earlier pictures don't do justice on the difference of the splitter width.
I thought I didn't like the new brogue tan vs the lighter tan of my 2016, but no WAYyyy... I love the darker so much more it's insane. Aesthetics is subjective of course, but you can see my old vs the new in those pics below.
The Rear view mirror has evolved and is so far and away more sophisticated than my old assembly. This one looks fantastic. Crap picture of the mirror vs reflection. Sorry. But the old one was a chunky box of plastic that took up serious surface area. Was it because of the cornering headlamps??? Or the adaptive highbeam assistant tech got smaller? The rear view feels like a really nice pair of aviator shades. That makes no sense, but look at it.
You can see in the older interior shot... even with the black pack, my door handles came silver/steel. The new car shipped with black gloss door handles.
After research, we lost vertical storage to a latch that would fail, and it became a headache of a warranty issue. I am waiting to see if I can somehow swap out my old one, like the one pictured below, for the one I got.... a new flat mesh area. That's some serious garbage. LOL A passenger seat for your phone? Storage is desperately needed. I think some of you had a thread on there being a cavity behind it, and some wires and a bluetooth thing? (here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...2016-a-142213/)
I WILL SAY... the software is so competent and sophisticated, you don't need a phone holder any more. I am thinking Waze / maps is unecessary now. Traffic sense is strong, but someone else can fill us in on how well it does. It says it learns from your typical commute and cross references with live traffic, depending on your preferred and typical driving route behavior. This is sweet, because Waze never routes me on a beautiful drive along the coast, that actually saves me time, vs the normal 19th st route in SF. This software will learn my preferred route. Yay! And searching an address takes seconds, which is new to me.
But that does mean our cars are AI and connected robots. The software is insane. I always say "if you have the money, buy it outright". Now, the tech moves so fast, it's dizzying... and I don't know if people should be buying cars right now, vs leasing, etc. This vehicle feels like the jump I made going from a 95 wrangler to the 16 F-Type. It's not just the wider and higher quality screen either. The 2016 had clunky B&W software, that I defended, but was so slow it was a liability. This is elegant, slick, intuitive, looks amazing, and it's mind blowing a freaking car has news and the weather. It's got wifi and is basically a cell phone, I guess. It warns, at times, that things I am doing will incur more cellular data usage. Is that *my* phone, or do I now have a bill from my car each month? It also ties in local information like speed limits and passing lanes / where to not pass, etc. It tells you in the dashboard cluster screen.
DYNAMIC MODE TURNS OFF EVERY SINGLE TIME, NO MATTER WHAT... whether it was an hour, 15 minutes, or 1 minutes.... Dynamic mode turns off every time. This sucks. A lot. Worthy of its own thread.
The DVD player is gone.... so where the hell do I watch my DVD of Casino Royale? And yes the Niven Sellers version. LOL I kid. The recent version. Does it still have the ability to store albums via usb stick, or something to that effect? In 3 1/2 years I never got around to uploading albums, so there's that.
We've got lane assist, as well as steering wheel lane assist, IE I think the car steers you automatically back into the lane. I'm not turning that part of the feature on, but the gentle vibrating of lane assist isn't as annoying as I thought it might be.
No adaptive cornering headlights, anymore. There was a bunch of reasons, but I think they switched mostly due to external factors like glare, etc vs it being a problem on the old models.
The seats feel smaller, or something makes it feel that my 6'5" self has way more leg room. Not sure what it is. I note the seats back up right into the rubber dry cleaning / jacket hanger hook. There's no molded out divot for the seats to accommodate it. But it's likely not an issue, because the old seats broke the hook anyway. I do notice that the seats don't have the "stop point" where the seat will automatically move forward if you move it back too far. These seats let you move it back until it just dead stops and can't go further backwards. It's probably just my old seats vs the performance?
Also, heating has a friend.... the cooling seats are AWESOME. Not sure how much it works, or how it works, but I can feel a nice chill down in the nethers. What a treat.
I'll add anything else, and if any of you can enlighten me about anything or know other stuff, let 'er rip!

I think the brogue interior looks insanely good with BRG.
I have ICTP (InControl Touch Pro) in my 2018 XE - yes, there's a separate SIM card for traffic, WiFi, etc. Got something like 3 months free, then ponied up $20/mo to AT&T. (I really don't need unlimited data, but didn't feel like going down the rabbit hole of FreedomPop, etc.) I think that SIM card is in the console, near the USB ports.
In the XE, I've ripped many of my CDs to a stubby USB stick, and that works fine. It works in my MY14 F-type too, but that system is so stupid, it doesn't alphabetize the album folders - whatever order they were written to the stick is the order they appear.

The between seat storage compartment in the coupe is gone too. I have no idea why. In the old version there wasn't a door or anything, it was just a bucket of sorts, but worked well enough for stowing a ballcap and whatever sundries the passenger might not want in their footwell.
They simply covered the bucket with plastic and added that dumb mesh pocket. For what, exactly? A folding map from the 20th century?

In 3.5 years and 42K miles, I wore through my mat. Hadn't thought of after market. Link what you find, at your leisure!
