Default I really want to love my car BUT...

I have my 2016 V6S AWD for 5 weeks and it has been in service 3 times and is still currently in the shop.

I honestly love this car and the way it drives but Jaguar quality control is definitely questionable.

When I first drove home from the dealership, the seatbelt got stuck and had to be replaced. The stereo rattles and they tried to fix it and play it off like it's just the loose cover, whatever, I will just live with it. The fuel neck has to be replaced. The car is currently in the shop because the air bag cover behind the passenger seat decides to come off and there's this annoying ticking and rattling sound that they are trying to fix. I tried to live with it by turning the music up but I couldn't.

I am crossing my fingers that I get to enjoy my car after I get it back... if I get it back this week.

I have had my car for a year w/ zero issues other than an oil capacity overfill.

Dealing w/ customer service is not a pleasant experience, however.

Good luck!

I've had my F type three weeks and a low battery indicator kept coming on, apparently a software issue but this morning it would not let me use any power until I turned the engine on so I had to go the dealer to resolve. On the way home, the auto engine-off operated at a traffic light except it completely shut the car down and I had to manually restart it - not a big deal in itself but concerning that signals are being misread by the system. Hopefully these electrical glitches will work themselves out of the system because it is a truly wonderful car otherwise.

If you continue to have the low battery problem, disconnect the battery for a few seconds. That will resolve the problem until the next time it goes in for service. (then you'll have to do it again).

Thanks for the advise - you may well have saved me tedious trips across town to the dealer. I assume this acts like a restart on a computer and is for the primary battery (rather than the starter battery). Will the few seconds complete loss of power affect the settings for any of the cars other functions?

I find it so puzzling when I read all the threads on this forum with owners of 2016 / 17 cars experiencing so many problems with electrical faults / body trim coming off / popping sounds etc etc - when I have an early 2014 V8S that I drive daily with 17k miles on it and absolutely not had a single problem. I even think the stereo sounds good !!

I would have thought the later cars would have been far better screwed together than mine. Feel sorry for all you guys experiencing problems. Stick with it as they are great cars when you get a problem free one.

I am not really bothered by the trivial issues that I've had - this car is amazing. I just want to drive it all the time !

i do love my car. haven't experienced any of the electrical stuff. i do have the ticking noises from the B/C pillars (I don't know what you call the rear one in a two door car) occasionally but it won't keep me from enjoying the car. I just need my window trim piece replaced. Boggles me how a part can be on back order with no estimated arrival when there are cars rolling off the assembly line daily being fitted with the same pieces.

A number of the user changeable options may revert to default, but they are easy enough to reselect through the menu button on the steering wheel. Also you may lose the auto-window-up feature which can easily be reprogrammed with the instructions in the owner's manual.

Speaking of trivial issues, the last day or so I noticed a buzzy rattle from the passenger side interior whenever the road surface got a little rough. The one and only "fault" I have detected so far in my new to me F-Type.
This morning I hopped in the passenger seat and started tapping various surfaces to see if I could reproduce the noise. A few prods on the glove box lid and there it was. A little more investigation showed that the lid had a bit of play when shut, maybe 1 mm.
So I whacked four thin pieces of Velcro across the inner top edge of the glove box lid, hey presto no more rattle!

Yea, I would think that there's less problems in the later year model but apparently not? Come on Jag!!! I wonder if Land Rovers have that many problems...

Hahahahahaha
The only thing less reliable than a British car is another British car.

Don't get too upset though. I've had two so far. The first one had engine issues. That one had to go. The second one had a few rattles, but once they were fixed the car became an awesome daily driver.

23000 miles so far and no issues, except for the idiot who side swiped me. Only have to ship the car 250 miles to an authorized body shop????????

I had quite a few problems with my first XF in the first year, then pretty much trouble free for 4 years after that. Since then another XF (trouble free save for putting a baffle in the fuel tank), an XKR (trouble free save a headlamp module, and that was 3 years old when I bought it), the XE (trouble free after 12 months) and the f type (trouble free after 6 months). Sorry to the OP for his issues, but these days it seems to be the exception rather than the rule.

I've owned many Range Rovers and 2 Jaguars. In my experience the Range Rovers have the edge in build quality.

Coming up on 20k miles. No issues that haven't been easily repaired and they were minor.

Got my car back today, rattle was not fixed. Surprise! I think if they are going to really fix this rattle, they would need to disassemble everything behind the passenger seat and get into the shell but what do I know...

I hear the rattling on the freeway on smooth surface. Whatever, I'm going to live with it, just gonna turn the volume up and drive (with Mad Max mentality) !!!
