Which makes the continuing presence of that C63 Black in your stable all the more surprising to me.

I was close to a 911 Turbo S until I found the R Coupe. Can't argue with the Porsche performance but fell in love after about 1 minute behind the wheel of the jag...

I wasn't looking to buy anything either. Having thoroughly loved my C6 Z06 and very disappointed by both an Audi RS4 and BMW M3, I was leaning toward the C7 Z06 perhaps in the next year or two. I went to the JLR dealer just to look at the V8S, which I drove and liked, but I really fell in love with a base V6 convertible they had in stock, particularly the more exotic sound of it, which just seemed to have more character. I love the looks of the Coupe, but I really fell for the convertible. I wrote a check for it the same day.

Perhaps I was suffering from high-powered V8 fatigue and boredom, having owned so many over the years, and was ready for something different. I'm still enamored with the V6, with more than plenty of power for a street daily driver. I like the lighter feel of the V6, as well as it's more stripped-down, basic sports car character.

For whatever reasons, I've just never wanted a Porsche. I've driven plenty, and they are wonderful, precision instruments, but like most German cars, they lack "soul." That makes no quantifiable sense, but it's a feeling that's important to me in terms of everyday enjoyment.

I was seriously considering ordering another BMW 5 series (nice but boring) however I really wanted another convertible. The BMW M4 convertible wasn't available soon enough for me. I compared the BMW 435i convertible and the Audi A5 convertible and considered the BMW 6 series convertible as well. I was about to look at the Porsche Cayman/Boxster, but after test driving the F-Type I didn’t need to look any further.

I hear you... I don't even have a Porsche jacket nor care about the pronounciation. I just love the drive

The RS is a blood bath car probably grabbing 30k over in most markets... I just don't keep cars long enough anymore. The Black Series, for some reason, continues to make me smile. Maybe because of its unique body flares and excellent exhaust coupled with an amazing suspension or maybe because its a free and clear cost and I just don't want to dump it due to its limited build.

I heard some noise about it but thanks for this link. I think I need to wait on the Z06.

My choice is a little different than most of you guys. It is between high performance motorcycles on the street and track and a high performance car. I have decided to stay with the bikes but it would be between a new Vette or the V6 F coupe. I would probably go with the F as my wife's XF has spoiled me on Jaguar interiors.

I like the new look but I just dont know if its powerful enough. My BS has similar hp (stock) but the GT does get the revamped DCT which is supposedly better than the one in the SLS. I think the DCT can cover the gaps but I actually like the ZF we have in the Jag alot and I have it in the RS7 too.

I think it's time to swap the Black for the GT-S.

And also find room for the Z-06.

I would not have bought anything else. I would have just continued to use the Range Rover. No sport car really got me interested. I was looking for a 2-seat convertible with a V8 that cost around 100K.
The F-Type V8 S gave me all that I was looking for. I actually bought the car instead of leasing it. I plan on keeping it indefinitely.

BMW i8, MB E Convertible or Aston Martin Vantage. M4 as a last resort...

I was going for a Porsche 911s or a boxster s, but I was saved by Porsche's terrible salesmen.
I also thought hard about the vantage and the maserati gt, but the Italian was old and the English was... I still love the vantage. No regrets though

Canceled a Viper GTS then ordered the F-Type after cross shopping a 911 4S and Nissan GT-R.

Probably a Golf R - if I could ever get hold of a salesman.

Failing that, a TT, or a 235i .

Not much else to consider if you are looking for a 2 seater GT with a manual transmission under $100k. The SL has no manual, the Corvette looks like trashy bling, and the 911 and Caymen look like....well, like Porsches.

Next spring can't come soon enough.

Welcome, Lhoboy. Nice to see another Marylander here, and I take it from your comments, you'll be an F-Type owner soon.

Quick Reply: If it weren't for the F-Type what would you have bought?
