Hi there
OK so today I decided to perfect the RAM air install by using some larger ducting as for my trial install I just used some 60mm spare brake ducting I had spare. So I ordered this from kit from ebay:

Which is 76mm and has neat ducts on the end, chopping this in half pretty much makes them spot, just shape the ends going into the ducts slightly square by squshing them a little and they then fit perfect, snug and tight.
I wrapped the metal ducting ends in some foam and then insulated in tape, reasoning behind this is so they don't clang against the metal crash bar as any metal on metal knocking could of course create a false knock situation, that is why the ends in the photos are wrapped in tape, but within that tape is foam to make sure that does not happen.
Using cable ties you can hold the ducts in the exact position you wish.

Its a much neater install, cannot be seen behind the grill with the benefits of drawing cooler air but also been able to catch air in motion to try and a create an ram air effect.
Will it make me go any faster, who knows, probably not but it certainly did not slow me downon the trial setup resulting in a PB of 11.2@124mph in not ideal conditions. Hoping I can get an 11.1s run, which will make me very happy considering the car is still stock and that pretty much then guarantees a lower pulley and map should yield a high ten second run.

Yeah if you wanted to catch even more air you could put some rectangle brake duct on the end of hoses and then put those behind the grill for an even neater install.

As its before the filter, it has no impact to flow, the idea is simply to reduce IAT's by pulling the air from a cooler source and giving the snorkels access to more air.
Only modifications after the filter is conducive to laminar flow, particular after the MAF.

I am looking into creating an Intake for the R, but beyond what the current Eventuri system has to offer. It looks like that system only replaces the bend prior to the MAF, using the original MAF housing, and then the filter on the end of that. I am planning to replace the entire system all the way to the SC inlet with either aluminum or carbon fiber tubing, this would include the y-joiner right at the inlet. I imaging some sort of heat-shield could be made around the filter, or at least a guard on the filter to prevent it from sucking in air directly from the radiator.

As much as I want to jump on the bandwagon, I "need" to see some performance impact numbers first, life as an engineer has it's burdens.
However, I definitely notice a change in performance on very hot days and I am pushing the car. Note, I have the VAP tune+pulley, but the stock cats. So Unhingd's comment on the hot air has me thinking maybe this could help some. Or maybe it's just a way to justify it.

Afterall if it was pointless then why would Jaguar have a fully functional RAM AIR intake system on the Project 8?

Seems like a ram air intake could also potentially reduce parasitic drag from the supercharger, thereby increasing available HP to spin the driveshaft.
