Default InControl

In the FWIW department, JLR's InControl is the first (and perhaps only thus far) implementation of Bosch's 'mySpin' smartphone integration efforts. The Bosch website indicates 'coming soon' for developer SDK's etc (ie what a programmer would need to actually write software for this system), and that seems to date from 2013...

For MY2016 JLR are integrating 'JustDrive' which appears to be some kind of 'SIRI' voice recognition and control application from a third party developer CloudCar, which will allow voice control of 'over a dozen apps' on IOS 8, with Android version coming in early 2015.

Presumably those 'dozen apps' are the ones currently working with InControl.

Which is all great, apart from the obvious 'where are the apps' part...

zzzzz . . . . I heard a bunch of blather. I saw app icons on the screen, I saw a phone plugged in, and I didn't see anything doing anything.

Bosch, huh. That doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies. I have a couple of Bosch appliances in my house, and the user interface leaves much to be desired. They should have hooked up with Apple if they wanted something that works and apps that are useful.

I understood that just drive is an app on In control apps, i.e. it should be available on late 2015 builds that are optioned with InControl Apps.

from what my dealer told me, the 2016 will have improved In Control apps, but they are still primarily for the European market.

The remote start mentioned for MY 2016 is not part of In Control Apps, but part of a telemetrics package that will come standard. According to him it will be similar to OnStar.

Why not buy a car for the way it drives and the way it looks? There are plenty of tech driven toasters out there!

The reason you Brits got used to drinking warm beer is that you had to rely on Lucas refrigeration. (Hail to the Prince of Darkness)

Yet, I loved my H-Production Bugeyes and my Sunbeam Tiger.

Or my personal favorite . . . "Lucas once considered manufacturing vacuum cleaners because they wanted a product which didn't suck."
