Default bummer

So, it's the same problem I have with my 2017, but the covered Fs are 2018. Hit a wall. need to try another method.

That July deadline is to exclude yourself from the lawsuit. The final hearing will be held October 10, 2024 but there can be appeals after that. The earliest you could potentially have the work done would be after the October 10 hearing. But I suspect appeals may drag that our further.

Default Clarification

NOTE: The notice is not that there is a class-action lawsuit, rather that Jaguar Land Rover North America has agreed to settle the lawsuit by providing certain upgrades and/or updates to the InControl systems in certain vehicles (as specified in the notice) and extend warranties, pending approval by a federal court in New Jersey later this year.

The notice further advises affected owners of their right to question and criticize the terms of the settlement or to opt out of the affected class in order to pursue their own legal remedies, subject to a specific deadline. Read the notice as per the OP's provided link.

That's not really what the lawsuit was about. Rather, some owners have experienced recurrent screen blackouts, system reboots, loss of Bluetooth functionality, etc., as well as inability to receive system software updates OTA, as promised. The pending settlement has JLR agreeing to fix and extend warranties.

OK, so my 2017 probably won't be covered and I can't do the SoftwareOverTheAir updates. I could easily do the download and put it on a USB.. can you step me through that??

Update on my Incontrol Remote not working: I rebooted my phone and the problem cleared.
Thanks for the help. All I need to do now is find out how to plan a trip in advance from my laptop.

I have never heard of doing a software update on an F-Type via a USB stick. I can update the maps via a USB stick on my 2018.

In the center console have you tried going to Settings then Software Update? I have that option on my 2018, but I am not sure if 2017s have that option.

I don't think that's true. Before JLR would be obligated to make the fixes it's agreed to do, the court would need to ratify the settlement and JLR would need to issue specific instructions to its dealerships.

Spent some time with the car yesterday. My 2017 Premium (built late 2016) does not have a "settings". There is an icon for the InControl, but when I go there it directs me to insert a USB stick in a specific USB port in my console. A bit more research today indicates that it may be for map updates, rather than any sort of other driver control to communicate with the car. I'm OK with the Nav the way it is. I'm still a great map reader, and have phone for backup. Current Nav in the car has found everything I've ever looked for in 4 years of ownership. I'll put this on hold for the time being.

I have used a USB stick to update maps (downloaded to my PC) but think the other software updates are done OTA.
Incidentally, I could care less about JLR maps, CarPlay and Siri are much better.

Yeah, I wasn't sure what this was about when I got it in the mail. Honestly, I'm just happy Jag was able to update me from 3g to 4g so my ATT service still works.

How did you get them to do that?

I was due for a routine service just after the 3g was stopped. I told the service manager that it stopped working and they fixed it under warranty. The paperwork states Telematic Control Unit Module Renew and SIM Card.

Actually, now that I think about it and am looking at the paperwork, the first service rep told me there wasn't anything they could do. I went back a few weeks later because of a coolant leak and the 2nd service rep asked the tech to look into it and that's when they fixed it under warranty. I gave the 2nd service rep a great review and never went back to the first rep afterwards. Guess which one was the seasoned veteran and which one was the young guy.

Looking forward to the hearing date in October.

My 2018 F-Type 8" display has ICTP/NGI but is stuck on version 19C_19.46.4-458817 from 2019. I think I have a newer Telematics unit with the latest SIM module since it had the Smartphone Connect Pack done to it.
SOTA is activated in Topix as confirmed by dealer even showing the latest available is 22A (attached image).
I tried with a new 4G SIM with active data but not seeing any updates.
The dealer is incorrectly saying I need to have WiFi for SOTA to work and that my vehicle doesn't have WiFi, however SOTA can work over SIM data. It's true WiFi is not in the UI but I checked it has the physical BT+WiFi antennas behind the ITCP display and it's connected to the IMC and the car has cellular based hotspot ability which clearly uses WiFi to broadcast. Isn't it odd that there's no WiFi to connect? Maybe a CCF edit can make it available if that's only available on 10" ITCP?

Have folks been able to use Pathfinder to manually update to newer than 19C?

The dealer is asking for $975 to "try to manually update" even though they are saying it likely will only have 19C.
In addition the vehicle has CPO but this software update is not covered.

Here are some newer software versions according to Topix:

I wondered about wifi connect as well.... Seems odd our cars don't have it... My car also doesn't show level of telematics software and I thought perhaps a newer version would "turn it on"... I do have 22A for the other software, updated 18 months ago over SOTA...

Nice that you have newer/latest software over SOTA. Is this the 8" or 10" infotainment?

It's not clear to me if 10" F-Types have WiFi connect, like say Jaguar XE does:

Near as I can tell, the F-Types have WiFi hotspotting, but not WiFi connect. At least I could never get the car to connect to my house WiFi--there's no option for it. But I can easily connect my phone to the car's WiFi.
