Most useful app I have is "Genius Maps".
I couldn't get voice commands to work though. Contacted the developers and they said it was a JLR problem. Contacted CRC and they were unhelpful.
Driving the other day with music from the iPhone playing, the voice commands worked!
You have to select iPhone as an audio source. This means that you can't use the radio and get voice commands. However the app is very good.
Spotify works well too. How come no Spotify for you?
I use Hey Siri for phoning and playing music.
JLR should stick to building vehicles and let the experts fit infotainment.
Actually the whole infotainment system (touchscreen, head unit, etc) was developed by Bosch, originally in conjunction with Volvo...
Blame the Germans and the Swedes LOL
you can blame 55% of the car on the Germans.
I use in control apps for music playback all the time, and just drive for voice activation (phone dialing)
I would use the InControl interface for browsing music if it didn't blank the screen on my phone. I need to be able to use google maps or waze. That's the main reason why I never use it.
I have no idea how you guys can pan it. I paid $400 and it was worth every penny. JustDrive is great. It can find any address or business with voice recognition. With a Spotify Premium, you can summon any song through voice recognition. You can navigate automatically to an appointment that comes up on the calendar. I think before anyone really can criticize, they should explore all features first.
The Spotify App is also great. It's fairly new and works great...
As someone driving a 2015 that doesn't support any of this and wasn't provided with this as an option, feels like I am back in my early 2000 BMW because EVERY car post that, except the F-Type, had an infotainment system from the 20th century.

+1. The functionality is far more than I need and sufficient to impress and entertain the occasional passenger. The fact that I have to tether a mobile device to make it work, is no big deal.
Won't start a whole argument about why an Iphone is like a Fischer Price toy in comparision.
Good because that's just silly...as an iPhone user I'm sorry Android isn't supported yet. It may be a purely business decision from a software development point of view (as someone in the software dev field). I can only suggest continue to pester for a release date so that your voice can be heard and counted. Don't assume that they know there is an army of waiting and willing users for the (free) app.
OK without the Just Drive correct app it isn't worth setting up and that is just for the AppleHeads.
Not for Android in crazy. Won't start a whole argument about why an Iphone is like a Fischer Price toy in comparision.
Here's their official response to the Android query:
Horace Samuel (justDrive) Mar 14, 11:07 AM PDT Hi, Thank you for contacting us and for your interest in our app.
The Android version is still on our roadmap but there is no official date as of now on when it will be available.
Please continue to follow our official announcements as we will announce them once new releases or features become available. Regards,
Tackling on to this old thread as a starting point:
Just bought an '18 svr (still have the R for now). The R is connected to incontrol app. I find it useful to check on car status, locked, unlocked; haven't used remote start in ages, etc. No Just Drive as wasn't available for Androdi.
Can someone give me the cliffs notes on use of InControl, Just Drive for an '18 model? I do stream TIDAL to my '16 through bluetooth and works fine. Wondering how much functionality the '18 has with the Jag apps.
My new iPhone tells me that Just Drive for JLR is no longer available in the store and won't load it. I don't think I ever used it, but just checked now and that's the word I get.
