Interesting offer by the GM at the dealership

Other reasons to prefer SC to other states: No vehicle inspection, no emissions inspection, no front license plate requirement...and most of all (at least the area I live) NO WINTER!
Come to think of it, I can't put my finger on a down side to living in the Palmetto State, esp. after spending so many years in suburban Washington, D.C.

Yet another reason to reside in the glorious state of South Carolina: Maximum sales tax on car sale regardless of selling price: $500.00. And that was recently raised from $300.00. Want to purchase a new Ferrari 488 or some other model? Negotiate the deal, pay cash or finance it and pay $500.00 state sales tax.

I can take the heat, but as I age the humidity gets to me. But, that only lasts for about four months and the other months more than make up for the discomfort if you have to be outside in the worst part of the day. As for hurricanes, I've lived here for 22 years and never have had to evacuate. What's more, my oldest lives in Richmond, Va and has suffered much more damage and power outages from hurricanes than have I. This latest storm, Florence, caused me no inconvenience other than having to remain indoors for three days; and no loss of electricity at all. Others have not fared so well around the Carolinas and that is why I appealed to our fellow Jag owners to contribute to hurricane/flood relief efforts.

Worst case scenario, buy your new vehicle in a high sales tax state and move to a high personal property tax rate state.

So...did you ever follow-up with the dealer and see what their actual figures/offer was on your car + on the sale of the SVR?
Dealers are always trying to buy used cars (for their own inventory + it helps them sell new cars), so it's common practice for them to approach you. But...depending on how desperate they are, especially with the end of month and quarter approaching, they may actually offer up quite a steal.
I had an offer for trading in my 2015 R for a new 2017 SVR last year, which would have been almost an equal trade. VERY hard to pass up, but to be honest, the SVR just doesn't do it for me like the '15 R. Other than the quilted seats, I prefer the R over the SVR, so I turned down their offer.

A few points of reference:
- It appears that there are a number of '17 R's available in the public market (Auto Trader, Carvana, Car Guru's, etc) in the low 80's with anywhere from 2K to 15K miles on them so a pristine example with 5K miles is probably a $85K used car in today's market.
- Manheim shows that average wholesale/auction values before fees to be $72K for a '17 R in very good condition (4.0 cond). Individual colors and options may add a few thousand to those prices for an individual vehicle but that is the average as of 15 minutes ago on Manheim MMR.
- So I expect that the dealer was really offering closer to $73K but myself and the other R owners here would love to learn differently.

I will when I return the loaner to pick up my F-Type R. The dealership ordered a new lower rear diffuser and rear hatch cover to include the rubber strip that goes on the front end of it to replace the original parts.

He wasn't asking about info on the repairs. He was asking if your dealer ever confirmed the price they would ACTUALLY offer. As we pointed out previously in the thread, the stated $1K over "book" does not provide that information as "book" means many things. Did they offer you the RETAIL $92-$93K you had hoped for or anywhere near that or did they offer the $73K which would be wholesale "book"?
So, that means when I return to the dealership to pick up my F-Type R from being repaired I will ask if they don’t otherwise approach me first. In the meantime, I’m not going to inquire.
I never said “I hoped” for anything.
I don’t know how else to say what I’ve already said.
