Default IOS 8.2 upgrade killed automatic bluetooth connection

Since upgrading a week ago my phone no longer automatically connects with my car's infotament system. Both phone and car show connection failed. When asked to reconnect by the car it occasionally links up. Trying to reconnect via the phone's bluetooth settings ends in failure to connect.

Phone has linked flawlessly for 1year of ownership of the car despite previous IOS upgrades. I have the iPhone 6+

So far I have deleted the bluetooth setting for the phone on the car and on the phone and did setup from scratch but no change.

This will be a pain if not fixed!

Anyone else experiencing this problem?

I have an iPhone 6 as my work phone, and it has not had any trouble connecting or staying connected since the 8.2 update.

FWIW, my Nexus 6 (Android) has had no issues as well, even after the 5.1 update.

Perhaps try a factory reset of the iPhone, restore from iTunes/iCloud. Delete the phone profile from car as well, and re-connect. I know this has resolved BT issues with Android phones in the past on different cars.

I've found you sometimes have to tell your iPhone to "forget" a paired Bluetooth device, then pair it again. Probably needs you to also delete your phone from the cars list of Bluetooth devices first as well.

Perhaps give that a go and let us know if it helped.

I have not had any problems since my 8.2 upgrade. I do know that there was a bug in the iOS that caused an issue with some cars and Bluetooth connections. The answer then on the iOS forums was to remove an apostrophe from the phone name. So, I changed by phone name from Tim's iPhone to Tims iPhone and that corrected the issue. It is worth trying in this scenario.

Good luck!

I often hear about BT connectivity issues with the various OS versions, including 8.2. Hopefully either OzRisk or V8 S F's suggestion will work for you.

If all else fails, you could do a system reset. I realize that would take a bit of time and you would lose your saved settings (a real pain). And of course, resetting all settings is not a guarantee it would resolve your issue. But, it is an option. I had to use it once to fix a BT connectivity problem with my 5S device (and it worked).

Keep us posted, Diminiko. Good luck.

I had issues connecting my Android phone via BT when I first got the car. Tried everything..forget connection, delete connection, unpair, etc. In the end, only thing that worked was resetting the phone completely. It was a PITA as I had to re-install all my apps, etc. But it works fine after that....I know on iPad there are options to "reset" network, etc. Try that...but u may have to try to reset the entire phone

I had same problem recently with the 6+. Not sure if it was after the 8.2 update. I did what OzRisk said. Delete the pairing in the car and the phone and redo the connection. Not a problem since.

I'm assuming you've rebooted the iPhone? That's always the first step for my 4S when something is misbehaving.

So far I have 'forget this connection' on the phone and deleted my phone on the car then created new connection with no luck. Restarted phone with no luck.

I am doing a phone system reset this morning (took 2hrs to complete reset and restore from my backup) and will update you all when I have tested it.

It's not 8.2. There is something else going on. I just upgraded from the iPhone 5 to a 6, both running 8.2, and the new phone coupled and works as well as the 5 did on the same version of the OS.
