Default iPhone 12 USB connection problem

I just upgraded to the iPhone 12 from 7. Now in my 2017 F-Type I keep getting "connect device to USB" when it already is. I've tried the usual reboot of everything and even another cable. Same result. Any ideas?

What are you trying to do? Do you want it to act like a local usb drive (Eg to play music stored on your phone)? I just do Bluetooth for everything on mine. As my 2017 doesn't have CarPlay anyway

No CarPlay for me either. To my ear, music sounds better through the USB. And although I havn't had either (Car or iPhone 12) long enough to know exactly, i've gotta believe there's more functionality hard wired.

Would be interesting to hear from others with iPhone 12. Keeping my XR for now and it works perfectly, would hate to accidentally downgrade!
The UAD wireless CarPlay definitely worth installing btw.

iPhone 12 Mini works fine in the ‘18 XE with ICTP. Got the phone after the F-type went into hibernation, so haven’t tried that yet.

Sound quality is only about 75% through bluetooth transmitting. Almost 100% (no loss) if using cable. I always use cable to USB port with my phone for better sound quality performance.

Yeah, I had actually followed that thread for a while until i felt it got too techno-geek for me...if you know what I mean. In other words, "it works perfectly IF you do XXX and XXX and then xxx when the xxx happens, and xxx when xxx happens". I prefer to keep the entertainment simple and really hate when it takes my attention away from what I am doing...which is driving. I also have MY2017 Convertible which sounds like it has a higher degree of difficulty installing the UAD unit.
Believe me, I LOVE CarPlay in all my other vehicles and would be great if it were seamless here. But by simply having the hard wire USB connected between car and phone I get most of the functionality I'm looking for. I'm just thinking it's some dumb setting i'm missing somewhere that keeps my iphone 12 from connecting thru the USB.

Default Update (Duh!)

After hours of research and trying different cables, settings, etc., under the Jag's input menu I decided to try "bills iPhone" instead of "USB". Guess what! Talk about feeling like a dummy.

Default Fixes

It could not be the USB problem. Of course, you could try another USB cable. Besides, since you have force restarted your iPhone, then you could fix your iPhone's system through related professional ios repair software such as Joyoshare. This will not cause you any data loss but also improve your iPhone's performance if the issue was resulted by iOS glitches.

Hi - I know this is a bit old now, but I'm havingf exaclty the same issue with my iPhone 11. Are you able to describe exactly what you did to resolve it?

Not sure what all the xxx is about. If I open the hatch or the passenger door, I have music playing and a map on the screen once I start the car (wireless and flawless). The UAD is not very fiddly at all. I had an issue at first with the front camera I installed, but I think I was the first one to do it, so I had nobody to ask for help. It is sorted now and is not fiddly at all. Not only that, but CarPlay LOOKS so much better than the OEM screens too.
