I've bought my last Jaguar (an open letter to JLR)

I didn't *agree* to anything. I think I stated you were tiresome, or words to that effect. You still are. "In Search of"? When I was a pre-teen I thought ancient astronauts and bigfoot were real. The proof isn't there. Your statements smack of psuedo-religious dogma and lack supporting evidence.
As if we arrogant humans know anything ...

Wow!! the original post should be printed on a poster and placed in a psychiatrist's office.
The tagline should read
Imbalance; it hides in a place you cant see....others can.

Only insofar as JIMLIGHTA is looking for new concerns to troll about.

In a potentially vain attempt to resurrect this thread from the all to common political toilets that forums tend to descend into these days, has anyone driven both an 18MY and an earlier model year V8S/R that could comment on if anything has changed sound-wise?
Been thinking about trading up to an '18 before my warranty expires and would be curious of any experiences members have had. Of course, I will be taking copious amounts of test drives to gauge for myself before making a decision but good background info nonetheless.

My MY18 V8 R AWD makes plenty of noise (pops and bangs) but I've not driven an earlier model year (well, I have but so long ago my recollection of noise is hazy).

Good to know. Until I can afford the level of Aston's NA V12, I feel like this is the best sounding car by far on the road.

Or, er... uhm.. did.
All, except the militant millennials now running Jaguar, apparently.

Marketing, maybe. But putting the "R-dynamic" moniker on the 4-banger is dystopian.
It's ovbiously the farthest thing from an R, let alone some sort of implied upgrade.
This is another indicator that something is afoul at Jag HQ. Straight forward, forthright marketing is only abandoned when the seller knows it's time to tap dance. Better idea: don't water-down the brand and you won't need Orwellian branding.
