Jaguar corporate news roundup
A lot of interesting news articles afloat this week because of the LA Auto Show and the new product announcements.
Here are some I found interesting:
1. Jaguar and Land Rover are unifying their marketing leadership in the North America. This is hard to pull off, but given the creative marketing powerhouse that Jaguar has become over the last few years, it could actually reinforce brand harmony and synergies which could be quite exciting.
2. Jaguar CEO Ralf Speth goes on record with the Wall Street Journal reaffirming that Jaguar is not looking to match BMW/MB in scale, but is instead aiming to deliver differentiated experience and products to customers. I'm a big fan of Speth (and Ian Callum), so it's good to see they're correctly focused on creative, special products and brand rejuvenation.
3. Interesting article from a conference on Printed Electronics. A Jaguar engineer goes on record showing the technology roadmap and vision for JLR vehicles. Much of this is similar to what other luxury brands are heading towards, but it's clear that there is a narrative around increased engagement with a car that has "personality" and feels "alive". The JustDrive suite obviously comports with this strategy.
Lastly, here's a hilarious article about an outrageous Chinese knockoff for the Land Rover Evoque:
