Jaguar designed engines...?

I think the V-6 is basically a version of the AJ-V8 without the 2 cylinders in a shorter engine block.
This joint venture structure is pretty efficient because it gives Jaguar access to Ford's scale economies with engines.
With its recent success, Jaguar has earmarked massive investments in its own engine factories, and is building a factory in the UK that will initially be focused on smaller and more efficient engines (4cyl?).
Eventually I'd guess they may want to reduce their dependence on Ford.
