Jaguar F Type Accident

Very sad to read; I hope you have the truck's insurance details?
It is very difficult to give an estimate from external pictures alone. I have seen cars being broken up with similar-looking damage (suggesting an insurance write-off), but others with what looks like serious structural damage being repaired and back on the road in a few weeks.
I would guess the cost all hangs on whether that light has moved, and if so what it has takne with it.

Ouch. Sorry that happened to you. The cost will depend on the body shop. This has to be done correctly. Search for a reputable shop in your area if you don't already have one. I've seen plenty of people riding around with horrible body work. Good luck.

The main problem is it will most likely show on your car history that it was in an accident.
*Well, let me rephrase that on hard to fix...if you get a new bumper and tail light and fix the metal on the side panel, easy. But if you replace the side panel, extremely expensive and hard. That's one piece for the entire side.

My own ongoing experience isn't much ahead of you, although my damage was significantly worse. In my case, they've only just completed the revised estimate after appropriate disassembly.
I'm not sure how well they will be able to straighten that aluminum, and it looks like there is some tearing. Bodywork is not my field of expertise though, and when it comes to aluminum, there aren't many experts yet.
I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area and I was told by my service advisor that there are only two shops here (only one in the East Bay, where I am) that are certified by JLR to repair the aluminum cars. The estimate for repair on mine is daunting, but the other party's insurer accepted liability, so ... not my problem.
I hope to go look at the car and inspect the damage myself. If I can get over there I'll get pictures. They tell me it'll be perfect when done, "down to the last factory rivet." I'm counting on that.

As much as you can tell from a photo, it looks like the damage is more cosmetic than structural. Your loss could almost be greater for diminished value than for the scrape itself. It's not something the insurance company will volunteer, but worth pursuing on a car of this value. Read though a previous thread...

How much is it going to cost to fix your car?
Are they going to replace the side panel?

The member's name is Lizzardo, but because he might have been offline at the time, I remembered where the picture was and posted it for you.

It'll have to wait though. I hear relatives arriving for a family gathering. It's the vanguard of the barbarian horde, so I'll be busy for some hours now.

How much is the repair going to cost?
Did you have any frame damage?

Wishing you a speedy and complete recovery. I suspect it won't be so speedy. Best of luck.

The other car hit hard enough that the air bags deployed, and I got a concussion from the headrest. The other car is a write-off, mine is repairable. They will be replacing lots of stuff, but the major pieces are
- rear quarter
- rear panel, with various structural pieces
- lift gate
- rear bumper and parking sensors
The labor looks like about 140 hours or so, including painting.
Estimated total is north of $23K.

To be clear: I got hit pretty hard. Yours looks like a glancing blow, mine was a sold rear-ender. Your repair may seem expensive once you get an estimate, but it will be nowhere near mine.

Was the insurance company OK with replacing it?
Did they provide you a time frame?
Structural pieces = frame?
I have an appointment at a collision center here in Dallas on Tuesday.
Thank you very much for your input.

Aluminum can't be beat out like steel without cracking or weakening it. In fact, it has already been weakened with the original impact.
I guess with enough bondo you can add some strength back (not).

Had a similar accident damage repair to the front of mine. Bout 6K. Nothing frame wise just the body and light. 6 weeks on the DL.
