All 3 available as verts only in ‘14. In ‘15 the V6 cars were available as verts and coupes, the R as a coupe only and the V8S as a vert only. In ‘16 the V8S was dropped and the R was made available as a vert.

I own both a V6 and a V8, both convertibles. The V8 is brutally faster, making it the far more enjoyable car to me. Top down makes both cars a heck of a lot louder, letting the driver revel in either car's exaust note. The coupe is even quieter insider than the ragtop top up, but has more trunk space if that matters.

I've had two F-Types, white S convertible and white R Convertible. Open top is the only way to go.

I have driven convertible and coupe version. The convertible lacks a lot of storage and doesn’t look so good with the top up since it’s not a hard top. But the driving experience is incredible. Tough choice when I finally will buy one but I am 75% coupe.

a tune shouldn’t be necessary for a car at this price and some don’t want to do aftermarket things

Well, a tune isn't actually "necessary", but some folks just like to have more!

That’s why they offer the R. The real issue is that at the price of an R, they don’t offer an MT. Had they, I would have foregone the tune.

The Coupe is for the insecure, who need to feel like they look good. The Vert is for people that like the experience of driving, and don't give a ****.
That's probably controversial, but it's likely not far from the truth. People worried about looks, trunk space, etc.... enjoy the coupe.
People that love the classic grand touring experience of driving a sports car, love the vert.
And again, I should duck out because i think this may be rudely controversial. I am a nice guy, but I don't like being too honest. lol

I don’t want to be rude either but calling the coupe drivers insecure was probably the most stupid thing I ever saw somebody write. It’s like saying convertible drivers are people who are insecure and want attention from others and only show off. Some want the coupe just for the reasons I wrote. If you are going to get a car trunk space is a very important factor for many. And design too...

I agree. I didn't even consider a Vert. Melanoma is not pretty. Yes I have a chrome dome. The other reasons for me to not have a Vert. Jerks cutting your top, the top mechanism failing to function properly. It's over 100 degrees F for 9 months of the year here. I see these old farts in there Bentley Verts in the summer red as a beat and sweat pouring down their face. Don't look fun to me. But every now and then, when the weather is perfect, I think of Jimmy Buffet singing, "It's a rag top day.

We had a Convertible for 3 years which was fantastic, I just traded it in on a P300 Coupe, which is even better IMHO.

You sound like one of those people that says "No offense" and goes on to say really offensive things.

No offense, but this thread is starting to go nowhere.

Don't forget the Vitamin D health benefits of a convertible vs a coupe. Roofs are like smoking a pack a day.
