I have a new 2021 F Type R on order and the delivery date was just improved by a few weeks. It must have slipped in just under the wire before the shutdown which is to start on April 26th.

That's great news. Very happy for you. I was wondering if your date was going to be impacted since I knew you were on short time to delivery. My dealer has been waiting on an "allocation" for my order which was supposed to be this coming week...now I fear it will be several weeks before that happens. Then I may get an ETA. Was expecting delivery in late summer...now may be late fall. Cheers!

When I placed my order the build sheet showed an 8 week spread between the tentative build date and the tentative delivery date. It is now a 4 week spread.
One thing I noticed a week or so ago when searching online dealer inventory of new 2021 R models was the ID plates on the cars that show VIN, etc. data had February 2021 build dates. That tells me that the time between actual build and showing up on a dealer's lot was probably 6-8 weeks.

Hopefully this planned shutdown won't be for long, but you can probably still expect a 90-120 day lead time once the order has been placed and confirmed with the factory. Ask your dealer for a copy of the build order, it will have (tentative) build dates and delivery dates on it. Also a very detailed list of the configuration and all options that you may choose. Look it over carefully and make sure it is exactly what you want.
Good luck, I know the waiting is like being a 10 year old kid in August and thinking about what you are going to get for Christmas.

Keep a close eye on your date. Hopefully you got lucky and slipped in under the wire, but the critical chips go late in the production cycle, so it's possible the "move in" was premature. Good luck!!

I will ask my dealer for a status update next week, which will be after the first of the month. They should have a pretty good idea by then.
Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for now.

My dealer just confirmed that we received the allocation for my F-Type, so it's officially on order. Initially quoted late September/early October for delivery. My dealer did some horse-trading with another dealer and was able to swap spots. Now expecting late August... assuming there are no further delays. Cheers everyone!

It looks like my new F Type was completed just prior to the shutdown due to the chip shortages. It is in transit now. I should be able to take delivery by the week of May 24th. Since I'm in Southern California it has quite a voyage before it will arrive at a port in the Los Angeles area and then trucked to my dealer.

Good afternoon Dwight, any update on your F-Type? May 24 is next week...everything going according to plan? Has that beautiful cat made "landfall" yet? I recall my dealer mentioning that he could actually track the ship as it crosses the Atlantic--presume yours can too. Very excited for you.

No updates yet, I will check with my dealer the middle of this week unless I hear from him first.

I just took delivery of my 2021 F Type R. It's a beauty and I'll post photos as soon as I get a good coat of wax on it.

A quick photo taken after a hand wash. I did the "baggie test" on the paint and felt enough roughness that I decided to clay bar the whole car. It really made a difference. A ceramic or graphene wax coat is next.

dont bother with graphene, its nonsense. the usual suspects have covered this including consulting with actual experts and concluded its just not there yet. funny how the graphene substance always has to be added to, you know, a legit actual ceramic coating product. stick with the typical known brands and youll be fine. modesta, gtechniq etcetc. in fact, gtechniq crystal serum light is damn good and very diy/prosumer friendly. do it in your garage.

its less worth it to do a ceramic coating if you dont also do a paint correction first, so unless you've got shop space and the buffers+associated products... lucky for us there are few angles on this car, the whole thing is fairly easy to polish.

I've been getting absolutely fantastic results from Polish Angel products from germany, and have converted a few people to them. If you've already clayed, you would use a carnaubaflockencreme first (probably a once a year thing) and then a rapidwaxx (probably once every 3 months). Both are wipe on wipe off, no effort at all.
