Default Jaguar opens in-house manufacturing center

A Great Day For British Industry As Jaguar Land Rover Opens Its Engine Manufacturing Center

This is a new, and risky era for Jaguar as it takes engines in-house.
I sure wouldn't like to be an early buyer for the 2.0L XE....that said i hope JLR can make this work. I wonder how they hope to differentiate themselves from other larger vertically integrated manufacturers. BMW and MB have done a really great job streamlining their engine platforms and turbo technologies...Jaguar faces an uphill challenge on the learning curve and economies of scale.

I have faith they'll get it right. Let's hope their engines are amazing!

Makes me wonder who was making their engines before.

Figured it out. The current engines are made in a Ford factory.

Short video with a peek inside the new factory.
For this who have seen or toured the existing Jaguar plant at Castle Bromwich, it's really clear just how different this one is... Much less cramped, lower labor density and straight-through layout.

Much more like what a modern factory should look like!
