But give them time. They are still at least 5 years ahead of everyone else. We'll see who will be their biggest competitors. But it's not going to be a significantly bigger market until around 2030. And I think the stupid government mandates are going to be abandoned as the world won't be ready for all EV's by 2035.
Perhaps one can make the case that it is appropriate for the government to become involved in projects that increase over all societal productivity [e.g., the US interstate highway system], but subsidizing EVs [especially based on faux-science claims] is going to be seen as one of the all-time greatest scams.

Having the government directly subsidize consumers buying EVs is right up there with all the tax breaks given for solar additions to homes since the 70's. Why should taxpayers be extorted as it is the homeowner/car buyer, in theory, that is getting the benefit on both ends? Of course, the full extent of EV scam is just now coming to light as EV owners see their vehicles crash in value [due to the magnitude of their issues being revealed].

Who knows how this thing is going to play out, but there is no way anyone but the most extreme ideologues would have brought these cars if subsidies were not part of the deal. Hybrids probably make some sense for those who can make that work, but full-on 100% battery EVs are woefully inadequate and were brought to market way too soon. If for no other reason, the exploding battery thing should have been dealt with before they were approved. Who wants something like that in their garage?

Like all government scams, the few make out [as you apparently did], but the majority took it in the shorts [as we always do]. The more involved the government becomes in our lives, the further down the road to hell we go...
