XF shortages drive a crappy month for Jaguar.
Despite the optimistic verbiage around F-TYPE sales, they are actually tapering for the US, as the attached chart below shows. I've maintaining this spreadsheet with global and US F-TYPE sales volumes since JLR is increasingly resorting to obfuscating language to hide the actual sales trends for the F-Type. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the winter months....the AWD F-Type probably can't come fast enough.

I'm not seeing what you're seeing for U.S. F-Type sales. They tanked in the winter months of 2013 as well, and several 2014 months showed nearly doubling of sales with the rest of the months of 2014 showing roughly equivalent sales numbers.
One would expect that sales of a car like this would be substantially down during winter months.

Does anybody know what were Jaguar's sales expectations for the F-Type? Absolute numbers don't mean much, only in context of what Jaguar was expecting to sell. For comparison, through September, Porsche sells about 865 911s a month. My simple math shows Jag selling 328 F-Types a month through October. So Porsche is selling 2.6x as many 911s as F-Types. For a brand new car competing against the iconic 911 I say that's pretty good. My guess is if Jaguar can sell 1/3 of Porsche 911 volume they are happy. Jag just doesn't sell that many cars versus Porsche, BMW, MB, etc. And like Mulmur, as long as the F-Type is profitable for Jag at its current volume, I'm more than happy to see low sales
One of the reasons I ditched my new 2013 991 was because they were everywhere and I wanted something less common.

My guess is Jaguar as a whole is targeting mid-teens topline growth rate (it's still the fastest growing major luxury brand), which means that an 8% YTD decline is really far off target.
With respect to the F-Type I agree with you!

Pretty simple, no inventory no sales. My local dealer has 2 F Types, a S coupe and a V8 roadster, 2 XF, 4 XK, and 6 XJ. They are low on Porsche too with only 34 in stock for all of their models. The local Range Rover dealer, same street, has 6 new in stock with no Sport or RR. Very strange , Audi, BMW, and Mercedes lots are full of '15.
