Default Jaguar V8 production to continue in house

Many owners will know that Jaguar 5.0l V8 AJ133 engine is currently built at Ford Bridgend plant in Wales.

Concerns about the ending of the contract with Ford to build the Jaguar engine on a dedicated part of Ford Bridgend and the consequence of this were heightened when Ford announced closure of the Bridgend facility.

The good news for Jaguar V8 fans is the announcement that V8 engine production is being moved in-house to Jaguar manufacturing centre

AJ133 5.0 L V8 to continue in-house

Wot I posted on the Pommy forum a few minutes ago, in response to the exact same story:

"No mention of the AJ126 V6 though.
Surely if JLR are going to continue to produce/provide the AJ133 V8 it makes sense to continue the AJ126 as well, seeing as they use masses of common parts. And the V6 would have less trouble meeting even moronically lower CO2 requirements.
But we are talking about a press report and we all know how factual, accurate, detailed and true they are!"

Wouldn’t think they’d make both the AJ126 and the Ingenium V6.

I thought Jaguar was moving to inline six engine to replace the AJ126. It was the V8 that was hanging out.

Fascinating. This also means that JLR decided not to go with BMW twin-turbo V8. Good call, as modern BMW engines have very poor reliability unlike AJ133 that was bullet-proof since they fixed water pump issue.

Yep, that is my understanding as well.
JLR already have the Ingenium I6 in several vehicles, in both diesel and petrol form, just not in any Jag afaik.
In the latest Range Rover I think you can get an I6 petrol with both turbo and electric SC, and this engine could easily be tweaked to put out 600 hp.
Problem is it doesn't fit in the XE, XF or F-Type and it probably won't be an option in the upcoming all new XJ as that will be all electric, so if you want a Jag with the I6 it's probably down to F-Pace and maybe E-Pace only.
My guess is future F-Types will be AJ133SC and four potter Ingenium twin turbo only (ie two of the existing engines) and maybe a hybrid of the four potter and a leccy motor down the track.

I suspect you are correct. The I-4 plus 2 versions of the V8 (450hp and 575hp). I believe the I-6 is too long to fit in the F type.

I noted that there is also a hybrid 4 listed in the family though in LR only:
1,997 cc (121.9 cu in) 297 kW (404 PS) 640 N⋅m (295 lb⋅ft) 2017–present DOHC I4, Twin Turbochargers, electrohydraulic valvetrain, PHEV Land Rover Range Rover, Range Rover Sport

297KW and 640Nm, sweet.
