...that's paint correction to remove swirls that can be caused by any type of contact with the surface, even from hand washing. Paint correction is the key. I have 22ple glass coating applied to my 2011 XKR 175 and it enhanced the paint significantly. However, the guy spent 20 hours on paint correction before the coating was applied.

Stunning is the only word to describe the results!

The most common type of holograms are "abrasion holograms". Often referred to as buffer trails or machine marring. These are microscopic scratches in the paint caused by the marring on the surface from a very fine abrasive pad or compound.

When viewed in the sun you get a sort of holographic effect...buffer trails tend to be circular trails, following the path of the machine. Most often caused from poor technique (dealerships are great at this).

These need to be polished out, by machine with a fine finishing compound/pad & proper technique.

The other type of hologram are "oil holograms" - caused by residues of products (oils, waxes or sealants) curing at different levels on the surface.
If you fail to remove all fresh product and it remains on the surface in a small, perhaps near invisible amount, then it could over-cure or remain 'un-leveled and lead to holograming.
