I'm coming to end of my 3 year lease, and have 60k on the clock. Have had a look at some deals for new but thinking about keeping it as not been offered anything sensible for a trade-in and current car is as awesome as it was at day one.

The trade in value I imagine isn't to good although good compared to other makes, it does make you think is it worth it. With other cars ive always just taken the hit but I bought the ftype 2 years old and like to think it will be timeless looking due to those lines/curves.

I'm in it for the very long haul, assuming gasoline is still readily available in 20-30 years.

My plan is to keep my F type for many years, but the only constant in life is change so who knows for sure. I can see keeping it though and I'm very happy with it.

after my lease expires i'll likely start a new lease with an updated model (assuming some other models fall through). These cars nowadays get outdated quickly and i think its dumb to commit to an old model f type, especially paying maintenance costs 10 years from now instead of driving around in a new 2027 model.

"Dumb" might be a little harsh, don't you think? ;-) ......paying maintenance costs 10 years from now on a car that has been paid for for 10 years might be a good financial alternative to constantly having a lease or loan payment......as an example.

After buying dozens of brand new vehicles, I don't do it anymore; it's just .....well, not a good financial choice. I bought my F type as a CPO with 7000 miles on it for $35,000 less than a new one. ....seems smart to me.

If I get another good deal I may lease. If not, may buy CPO. Or get that DBS volante I always wanted. Who knows.

Definitely maybe. Wouldn't mind getting into a newer S or R when the lease ends.

That's about average (50% of msrp with 12k/yr miles). Audi S5 was 55 % a few years back. Pickup trucks hold their value best ( Plus 60%).

You surprise me U, and your concerns are easily rectified. Being a commodity futures broker I have clients hedging into deep 2021. If I recall correctly futures contracts extend for (can be bought/sold) 20+ years out - I will confirm on Monday - and buying just 1 contract of symbol HU (Unleaded Gasoline) = 42,000 gallons. Let me know and will place your hedge accordingly. On first notice day I will inform the proper authorities that you plan to take delivery. Problem solved. (Pork Bellies anyone?).

Looking good Billie Ray!

Selling my F Type will be the last thing I'll do before any hard time. This car has soul, has this behavior, this looks, this wellness and gives joy to everyone - driver passenger, kid, son, friend and all those saluting eyes on the road....

Ok...sign me up for a 1000 bbl/15 year contract of SNL. Oh...and keep a lookout for me for a couple of 30,000 gallon railcars in decent condition. I hear they can be had pretty cheap south of the border.
