Keyless entry option

Keyless entry option
Just had my order to Jaguar (F-Type, R-Dynamic, 380/Manual Trans) entered and confirmed yesterday. Waiting for the various target dates to be assigned.
I decided against getting the Keyless entry option because:
1. Not really sure I'd use it as I'm use to using the remote on other cars.
2. Battery drain, both car and remote.
3. One more thing to go bad/break.
I still have time to add the option before the build starts. My wife and I are retired empty nesters and view the car as our toy for get-a-ways with no particular place to go and all the time in the world to get there.
My question for both forum members that have/don't have this option:
If you have it do you use it all the time and find it indispensable, use it once in a while but could do without, forgot I have it, would not get it again?
For those without, using the remote buttons is fine, wish I had the option on the car.
Any and all thoughts welcome. I wouldn't say that I'm sitting on the fence but want some feed back that I making a correct and informed decision.
Thank you all.

When I got my car, all of these features were included. So I have it. Normally I don't like these systems and probably wouldn't have ordered the car with it.
Two things to consider:
1. It works rather well with flush F-type door handles. I normally approach the car, press button on the handle, and the car opens. No other extra steps are needed to get in. When I leave the car, I press door handle in and the car locks.
2. Buttons on a remote are awful. I occasionally lower windows with remote as I approach the car (press, then press and hold open button) and it is struggle to get it working. I am glad I don't have to press buttons to get in.
I recommend you get this feature, plus I recommend you also order a key in a form of bracelet (activity key or some-such) that they developed since then. This way you never have to deal with the ugly key fob.

Fob always stays in my pocket. Never use it to either open the doors or the hatch. Very handy. I can’t imagine that the key fob battery on the keyless version gets used up much faster than the version requiring the buttons to be pushed. The receiver on the car has to always be on standby regardless of version.

Agreed, especially with SinF's comment that the buttons on the remote are awful. You have to dig your nail into them to use them. I'd add the keyless. When I drive my daughter's car and have to use the fob I am like https://giphy.com/gifs/PprHjp7DCw4BW/html5
I have had keyless entry in my last 5 cars and I think I've only had the key battery go dead in one of them, after about 3 years.

Very convenient. I drive one car on occasion that doesn't have it and it's irritating (Wrangler). So, once you do get it, you may not want to give it up. Just like blind spot detection, back up camera, auto hatch, valved exhaust, one touch windows, steering wheel audio (and others) controls, etc. Spoiled brat......

As you've made the decision to add the keyless entry please consider this a positive affirmation
As others have said, once you have a taste...ya gots ta have it!
Also, based on the overwhelming path the replies took, it is probably a desirable option when the time comes to say good-bye.
It is interesting to me that it is an option as my daily driver Hyundai has it as part of a general tech package when you move up from an entry level version!

I'll agree with all the other advice that keyless is the way to go. The FOB just rides in my pocket and only comes out to invoke the Smarttop (not relevant if you don't have a 'vert).
While you're add it, check eBay for a wide assortment of leather FOB covers. They keep your FOB from getting scratched/nicked. You'll see them discussed in other threads. Mine fits like a glove and came with a little sewing needle/thread to close up the top. Very clean look. Even the guys at the dealer were impressed. We got separate versions for the F-Type vs F-Pace to make it easy to tell them apart.

It's amazing how things we never considered needing become necessities once we have them. Auto wipers, auto headlights, keyless everything, memory seats. Our Maserati has a memory feature that identifies the key and returns to your seat setting while using comfort enter exit feature, I actually miss it in the F Type.

That's a good idea...leaper embossed dark chocolates.
