Has anyone made the drive? I just came back today driving my new XF but really wanted to take my FType but with kids i couldnt make that happen this trip. I look to do so in the next few weeks.
I was wondering if anyone has driven the route and if there were any dips or other parts of the road that could scrape the car?
I feel like the drive could both be a great drive and a speed trap with CHP.

My biggest concern was hitting something at 85-90 mph but I'll take your word that nothing is really a cause for concern for the bottom of my car. I can't wait to take this drive.

I always wanted to check that place out. I would love to attend the next time i'm out there, granted when the weather gets past 30 degrees in the mornings!

Although I don't go to Vegas much anymore, the route I take from the San Fernando Valley is to take the Antelope Valley Freeway 14, north to Pearblossum Highway (Palmdale Blvd.) that takes you from Palmdale east to Victorville. If you don't get stuck behind a slow moving truck, it's a road with thousands of up and down mounds, some interesting country shops, and tons of fruit and vegetable stands, and typically little traffic with the ability to drive at very high speeds out in the middle of the desert.

This.
I live in Vegas as well and have taken my F-Type down to SoCal. If anything, there are way more issues around SoCal (steep driveways, etc) that will cause you problems than anything you'll run into on the 15 or here in LV.

Honestly depends on time of day. At 12 p.m. last Friday there were no delays.
I remember taking that route with my family as a youth and just remember signs and billboards everywhere warning about how dangerous that highway is and how many people have died there. Probably not the case now I'm an adult but would love to try that route.

Just did the drive this past weekend. Triple digits for quite a few sections but when traffic is light everyone is holding a steady 85-90. I wouldn't do it without a radar detector though, or at least wait until you have a "rabbit" to follow. There are a lot of speed traps along the way.
This time of year is really windy near Vegas and the worst bit was just after Primm. Large gusts of wind blowing dust and tumbleweeds onto the road.
One thing I noticed, not sure if it was the cold or not, but I slid very easily going around corners/intersections just off the strip. I barely gave it any gas and the backend swung out. :O

My wife and I were on a vacation in the US this October, and we drove from Tucson (White Stallion Ranch) - Phoenix - Flagstaff (via Sedona - really wish I had the F-type there) - Hoover Dam - Las Vegas - Death Valley (with a detour through Titus Canyon - really glad I did not have the F-type there) - Yosemite - Santa Cruz - San Francisco.
On almost all of those roads I would have loved to go with the F-type instead of the rental Chevy Tahoe that we had. But due to a couple of the places we stayed and wanted to see/visit, we needed a 4x4 with some ground clearance. Otherwise the F-type would have been the perfect car for that trip.

As 43 year res of Vegas I've driven many dozens of time to LA, Newport, Palm Springs. Wife won't let me drive Pear Blossom Hwy ever again! Back way to Palm Springs(Joshua Tree) is a great drive for any sports car driver. Wife actually won't drive with me again on 15 in F Type! I can't stay behind slow traffic! My tires have been sliding in the recent cold spell, with not much rain our streets start to build up on surface.
