Latest recall...do I have to have it done?
Brought my car in yesterday for the 2 year service and the service advisor told me there were 2 outstanding campaign's that needed to be performed, one was K309 which was completed with a PCM software update, the other is K410 which just appeared within the last few days according to the dealer and involves a canister and a hose that turns brittle...they didn't have the item in stock and it needed to be ordered, I got the call that it arrived today.
They told me it's a rather lengthy procedure that entails removing a lot (if not most) of the interior behind the drivers seat and that it would require me dropping the car off for a few days in which they would supply me with a loaner car.
I'm not especially keen on leaving my Polaris white car with Cirrus interior in the hands of others fearing the worst and am wondering if I HAVE to have this recall/bulletin/campaign done or can I opt no.
As it is, I lined the interior with blue painters tape to prevent scuffs and marks, as I do every time the car leaves my hands...one would call me **** and rightfully so...so obviously this doesn't sit that well with me.
So the question is: can I opt out?

If it involves dismantling the cabin I would not be keen at all - I can just imagine rattles etc after they put it back together again - once disassembled its never going to be as tight as the original factory build.
I would also want to know exactly what the fix is for - what the component is, how critical is it to the cars operation, likelihood of failure if you opt out etc

I just had K410 done. They definitely were into the trim behind the seats because a couple pieces of weatherstripping are now slightly askew, and there's a tool mark in the leather trim around the seatbelt housing. They will of course be replacing that....grrr.
They said the purpose of the recall is to replace a piece of tubing that is part of the emissions system. It can apparently rot and allow fumes into the cabin.

Just picked up my car from 2nd year service and warranty work to repair a coolant leak and buzzing in speaker(s). Work was finished Wednesday, today I asked the service rep. about K410 and he looked it up: my car MY2015V6S is flagged for it, but the work wasn't done because it wasn't flagged until after they finished with my car.
K410 relates to "canister & hose" behind the driver's seat, ozone degrading the hose.
The coolant leak was my first problem in 20 months of ownership ("rear crossover pipe leaking" and replaced). I had buzzing in speaker(s) called out at YR1 service, but never went back for the speaker(s) installation as they had to order the parts.
I will add: the fix - new speaker(s) installed this week (PS sub and door?) -- the Merridian Sound System has NEVER SOUNDED THIS GREAT! Then I turned off the radio and listed to the motor & exhaust sing, as usual....

recall, TSB, "campaign"?
Is K409 a recall, in which case all affected car owners must be notified, or a TSB (technical service bulletin), in which case they might mention it when we bring in the car for the next service?
Another question: Is there an identifier other than K409 which, when clicked, gets me to AutoAnything.com?
