Default Leak from diff sensor

I have a small leak from the 2 wire diff sensor, is this a temperature sensor, only noticed it when I removed the plastic cover

A leak of what? Gear oil?

The pinion seal is known to leak and require replacement. Is it possible you're just mistaking the source?

I just recently had to pull the motor off the diff and reseal the mounting plate. That's where I think your leak is coming from. Your leak is coming from slightly above according to your pic. Not a bad job. Just drop the rear brace and lower the muffler. Filled it back up with redline fluid. Give the gasket sealant and hour before you torque down the bolts, before that put the bolt in finger tight. They allow it to sit for 24 hours before adding back any fluid.
