Lister Thunder F-Type announced
https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/n...er-due-january
My sources tell me that Lister has done a fair bit of work to the motor itself in order to reliably acheive that power level, stuff like forged pistons & rods, revised oil system, revised cooling system, and so on.
And there will be no factory warranty from JLR, it's 100% on Lister.
Wish there were some more pictures of this thing, the only other "Lister F-Type" pics I can find are from earlier in the year, so hard to say if it's the same thing... Like here https://www.autoevolution.com/news/l...ls-118428.html and there was no mention of engine work back then...

The Cambridge-based company, which is famous for its Le Mans-racing Jaguar Knobbly D-Types of the 1950s, has extensively rebuilt the Jaguars supercharged 5.0-litre V8 so it produces 666bhp.
Rory McDonnell, head of sales and marketing at Lister, said the car is capable of accelerating from 0-62mph in 3.2sec and a will have a top speed of 208mph. This comfortably beats the quickest series F-Type on sale, the SVR, which has 567bhp and completes the 0-62mph sprint in 3.7sec.
The Thunder's modifications include a new suspension setup to enhance its agility and a flashes of Lister green paint on its exterior. McDonnell confirmed that the car will also get a more luxurious interior with Nappa leather-wrapped seats.
The Thunder continues Lister's increasing activity after the company returned to building cars with a continuation Knobbly racing car in April 2014. This was described as all-new and factory-approved and is eligible for entry into FIA/HTP Appendix K historic racing. Earlier this year Lister launched a road-legal version of the Knobbly, of which 10 examples were to be produced, priced from £225,000.
CEO Lawrence Whittaker is also eager to develop an all-new Lister model. Autocar has previously reported his plans for a Lister hypercar to be capable of a sub-3sec 0-62mph time and top speed of 250mph. The new Thunder is understood to mark the brand's first steps towards its goal of becoming a new car maker.
Lister, a company that was born out of motorsport, last produced a new model when the Storm racing programme was born. In 1993, the brand created the Storm homologation road model that used a reworked version of the Jaguar XJRs V12 engine, before taking it racing at the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The Storm raced in the events top GT1 category against models including the McLaren F1 GTR and Ferrari F40 LM through the late 1990s with limited success, but it later became a race-winner in the FIA GT and British GT championships from 1999.

Agreed, but rather less radical than might have been expected.
I remember Lister versions of XJS V12, the standard XJS had 300bhp, the Lister versions ranged from 480bhp to 600bhp, a very substantial increase over standard.
An extra 100bhp over SVR is not insignificant, but then again the Lister modified engine is developing 133 bhp / litre compared to 113bhp / litre in SVR or 108bhp / litre in V8 R.
Neither of the above three specific power outputs are really anything impressive from a forced induction engine in 2017

Meh. You do get a lot of Lister badges though, and a project 7 grill on what looks like a Project 7 nose(?) and 'old' style HIDs.

I am sorry but I fail to see the point of this car. If the exclusivity is the point of spending $250K for a tuned F-Type R with quilted leather seats and 22" wheels then I see the point but I expected something far more exciting. On the other hand the fact that they did not modify the looks of the car is a true compliment to what Jaguar has already done. SVO stated that the rear adjustable wing was to provide much needed stability, that is not to say that the car cannot go over 200Mph without it but it simply points out that the car doesn't meet the stability expectations for Jaguar (and I fully understand that). You can purchase a used F-Type R AWD for no more than $80K, add quilted leather seat covers for $6K, Project 7 front grille and bumper for $3.6K, tune and pulley for $1.5K, 22" Vossen forged wheels and tires for $8K. You can leave the suspension alone or just do a spring swap for $500 and an awesome sounding Capristo exhaust (or the SVR exhaust) for $3K. That is still far from $250K.

pretty underwhelming, imo. it doesnt look like they touched the brakes or suspension? no other visual mods other than the P7 style front bumper and badging.
being generous with costs, you could easily do this yourself for under $25k. if you went super crazy with the wheels and exhaust you could maybe add another $10k to the build.
but that being said, there is definitely a market for people that want a complete tuned package with perception of exclusivity vs doing it themselves. lister is obviously targeting a different market than the people posting here.

Not sure what to make of this. Just found on FB.
Ian Callum said that the SVR had to have a wing for it to go 200mph.
This has no wing and appears to have no spoiler either. Not even SVR body.

Does it still use the TVS1900? According to the video it now makes over 700 lbft of torque

Nope, it is 720 Ft/Lbs.
In the UK an SVR coupe costs £112,680 and the Lister will only be £27,270 more expensive. Given that only 99 will be built and they have actually changed quite a bit on the car if you look at their website, that doesn't seem too bad a deal (not that I have that sort of money!).
I suspect they will hold their value a lot better than the standard F Types as well and definitely more than if you decided to chuck a load of upgrades at one yourself.
"Power: 666BHP AT 6,000RPM
Torque: 720.33 FT/LBS
Acceleration: 0-60 IN 3.2 SECS
Max Speed: 208MPH
Front 21x9" and rear 21x11.5" alloys with Michelin Supersoft XL tyres.
Upgraded dual supercharger pulleys, custom intercoolers, performance air filtration and Lister Engine Management
A 5,000cc Supercharged engine with 8 Lightweight Cylinders producing a devilish 666bhp
The carbon fibre front bumper is custom made, with an extended splitter giving greater down force. Lister vents adorn the bonnet and stylish Lister decals fit neatly on the side panels of the car, with the grille centre, decals and callipers exactly matching the interior combination.
The rear bumper is also bespoke featuring a carbon fibre design, which houses the enlarged rear Lister carbon exhaust tips that give a thundery note when pressed. A solid brass Lister badge adorns the rear spoiler, chromed for the best effect. At the front, a beautifully enamelled green and yellow racing Lister badge sits perfectly in the front grille. A carbon fibre bonnet will be available as an option, with a retro-fit carbon fibre kit also to be offered exclusively by Lister for existing Jaguar F-Type models from £19,950.
The Lister’s custom interior is finished in the UK’s most expensive Bridge of Weir Nappa hide, and is available in 36 colours. Lister logos are stitched into the headrests and the seat pattern echo’s the car’s grille. The dashboard, door cards, roof lining and steering wheel are all hand stitched in matching Nappa leather, with the seats, dashboard and roof lining all hand finished with a contrast stitching to match the accents of the exterior."

Most likely they fitted the ZF8HP90 as well, that would get them their 900-1000NM.
It's a cool car, and I like the fact that it's not over-styled. Worth bearing in mind, with most of these special limited edition vehicles, it has nothing to do with equivalent performance or bang for buck versus upgrading the 'normal' versions.
The people who are buying them are 100% not comparing to the price of an R or SVR and how much it would cost to build to that spec. A lot of the time they are even crowd-sourced so to speak, by collector committments to pre-purchase. For the Aston 1-77 people were bashing Bez at the time for 'wasting development funds' on that car, but in actual fact a Middle Eastern family pre-purchased 10 of them, and it funded the entire development. I wouldn't be surprised if Lister is the same, they probably had deposits and commitments from buyers in advance. At which point why not build them?

720.33 FT/LBS, that's 976 Nm!
A humongous number of torques to put it mildly!
Sounds too good to be true IMHO, the SVR is rated at 516 FT/LBS, I can't see how some internal engine mods, changing out the upper and lower pulleys, adding a tune and tweaking or removing the torque limiting programming in the ECU and/or the TCU is going to increase the max torque by 41.5%.
I reckon the only way they could have got to that number is by some major changes to the supercharger, maybe they have fitted the larger TVS R2300 or even the R2650?

apropos the first couple of comments, I was at the dealer yesterday for a service and say a 4 potter coupe with the fixed rear spoiler in black on display. It looked seriously good with the spoiler - much more aggressive. I'm pricing one for my car but my car is red and I get the feeling that it will look best on a black car.
But I'd caveat that all by saying that unlike pretty much everyone else in the world, the rear end of the F Type is not my favorite part of it. Love the front, love the waist, love the haunches, but the actual back is a bit pointy for me.
