There is NO NEED fot his car. Clarkson said when he tested the V6, he never felt the need for more power when he drove it. The V8 has an enormous surplus of power, then there is an SVR.
The LISTER is shear overkill but also a nice CASHCOW for the company... The statement you make when you drive that car is "I DON'T HAVE A CLUE BUT I HAD TOO MUCH DOSH" ....

So bascily one admits to being an idiot..

Bruce, I thought about a fixed spoiler, but it is very hard to see anything in the rearview mirror. The rear view camera solves that in part, but still, I feel vulnerable without a visual to whats behind me...

Also its a bit of a risk taking it into a carwash...

Now I arranged a guy to wash my car by hand every two weeks at a reasonable rate. They put a glass coating on it for to start with and will maintain it at the washings when needed..

Sounds too good to be true IMHO, the SVR is rated at 516 FT/LBS, I can't see how some internal engine mods, changing out the upper and lower pulleys, adding a tune and tweaking or removing the torque limiting programming in the ECU and/or the TCU is going to increase the max torque by 41.5%.
I reckon the only way they could have got to that number is by some major changes to the supercharger, maybe they have fitted the larger TVS R2300 or even the R2650?
A couple of things to note - speaking to some JLR Engineers a couple years back, I was told they were running the engines north of 700BHP in development testing on stock internals. Now, I'm sure that the durability tests required to do some dyno pulls and 10 or 20,000 miles of road driving are a lot different to what's required for full production sign off.

Also - 516 ft/lbs.... have you ever noticed how many recent vehicles have 516ft/lbs? For example the CL550, DB11 all list 516ft/lbs. New S8 has 517ft/lbs.

What's the commonality? The ZF8HP70. The 70 = 700Nm. What does 700Nm= in ft/lbs? You guessed it: 516.

If you look at the ZF8HP90 equipped cars - Hellcat, Rolls Royce etc. All have much more torque.

So although it's a 41% increase in torque, not all of that is an outright increase in potential. A lot of it is already there.

Good point - I hadnt thought of that. Looking at the snap I took yesterday, it looks as though it would obscure a fair chunk of the rear vision - about the same as if the deployable spoiler is up

Another update posted on Facebook....

The first of Lister's re-engineered F-Types will arrive on driveways this October.

Remember the 675hp Thunder prototype that Lister revealed earlier this year? Well, the British brand has now confirmed that the production version will be called the LFT-666, which essentially stands for ‘Lister F-Type with 666bhp’, in case you were wondering.

Just 99 examples of the British brute – a heavily re-engineered version of the Jaguar F-Type SVR – will be produced, with the first cars due to on the driveways of their lucky buyers from the 1 October. As you might expect, the LFT-666 is all about re-establishing the firm as a 21st century entity, with a level of performance and specifications to rival the latest supercars. That 675hp output (because metric) enables a 0-62mph time of 3.2sec, a 0-100mph of 6.8sec and a top speed of 208mph

But there’s more to come, because Lister will also offer parts to existing F-Type owners to make the firm a more overarching Jaguar aftermarket brand. Lister CEO Lawrence Whittaker has stated that he wants the brand to be seen with a similar link to Jaguar as Alpina do with BMW. As such, an aftermarket parts list is being launched that includes bits featured on the LFT-666.

Kits start from £9,750; that bottom figure buys you the Lister badge, bumpers and wheel upgrade. Cars without the power increase will be badged as Lister LFTs.

That should be interesting. I look forward to seeing what the range of aftermarket offerings will be. I'm sure it'll be too pricey for me, but a bigger aftermarket is welcome.

Wow, a tad harsh, don't you think? I thought that was the point of sports cars and super cars, they have more power than they "need".

I've contacted Lister about tuning options and how they saved the weight, hope they will be offering tunes and power upgrades in the future also.
