Looking at a used MT 2016 on Monday...

One of the things my service guy told me a few weeks ago was that the book says it was a three-hour job but that it was more like seven hours in reality. Not sure if this was because of being one of the first manual F-Types they had worked on or if the book really underestimates the time that bad...

I ended up buying the car! All seems quite well with it. One question though - is there circumstances where it won’t let you turn off the traction control? I held down the button and one time it went off, but then said “DSC Enabled” a few seconds later, and ever since then I haven’t been able to get anything on the dash when I hold down the button no matter how long! Any ideas?

On my car it's a 2 step process to turn it off entirely.
1. Momentarily depress the button and the center display will indicate "TracDSC". This will go off shortly after it is engaged but the yellow DSC disabled warning light will remain lit.
2. Then hold button down for a few seconds until it says "DSC Disabled". The yellow warning light will also remain lit in this circumstance.

Thanks. This confirms that something isn’t working right then... I get no response when I push the button!

I tried many times holding it for just a short while or a long time, never got any notifications or lights aside from one time.

I have more good news for you. Upgrade summer tires to MPSS or MP4S and it will be even more amazing. (Just not in the winter driving).
Some suggestions:
1. Keep close eye on oil level and change it more frequently if you drive your car hard. There is no idiot light, you can run engine dry without the car warning you.
2. Temperature sensor averages, so if it tells you it is overheating the time to do something about it is 5 minutes ago
3. Engine cover traps a lot of heat, if you track - make sure to remove it. It snaps on/off.
4. Synthetic gear oil will improve gearbox shifting feel and quickness. Surprisingly, it isn't synthetic fill from factory.
5. KB.. whatever, or O2 sensor software patch will quiet your car down. You have been warned.
6. If your car equipped with a front parking sensor, it is delayed by 0.5 sec. Just enough time to hit something with a bumper. Don't trust it.

Congratulations, I keep thinking I should have bought a manual myself, it really would suit the character of the car better.
IRR changes colour quite a bit depending on light and angle. Sometimes it is a bit pinky, sometimes it is almost oxblood or maroon. Both of our jags are IRR but they look different even next to each other in the garage, depending on where the light is coming from. It is a lovely colour, I get comments on it all of the time especially after I've just washed it.
