Red face Loud exhaust

Does anybody know if the loud exhaust increases the fuel consumption?

Typically loud exhaust goes hand in hand with a heavy right foot, which equates to more fuel consumption.

The bangs on the overrun are definitely caused by deliberate over-fuelling. Do you seriously care? It's one of the cheapest smiles I've paid for :-) My V8s is doing better gas mileage than my BMW 650i and is a good deal more powerful. I think that the exhaust sound itself isn't really using significant fuel, but it does encourage me to drive in a way that isn't necessarily so.... efficient. But the car is there for fun so I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

You could argue that louder is less restrictive and more fuel efficient assuming you drive the same way.

I'll chime in, I have an amazingly loud exhaust which I put on at the same time as the pulley and tune and my fuel consumption seems to have gone down slightly (to under 11l/100km). So if I keep the car for about 113 years, the fuel savings will pay for the work that I had done.

Our friend is in Doha, the capital of Qatar.
Which has cheap petrol/gas, even cheaper than the US, see here: https://www.globalpetrolprices.com/Q...soline_prices/
Not jealous much as here in good ol' South Australia right now the price of 98 RON for my F-Type is around $9.00 AU per gallon!

Unfortunately, most cars don't work that way.. The ECU mapping rarely (if ever) auto adjusts it's mapping based on the exhaust volume.

No, a louder cat-back will not have any affect on mpg.

Disagree - you'll be using the loud pedal more, so you'll use more fuel
