,Hello everyone, This is my first post (call for help!!!). Any advice on what to look for will be appreciated. I have an F-Type 2017 v6 with 29,650 miles. As the title says, after replacing all 3 coolant pipes and the water pump, the car started to overheat. Those parts were changed due to the fracture of the upper coolant pipe. The mechanic tells me that it could be a temperature sensor or the fan. The system was pressurized again to see if there was a leak, but nothing leaked. What seems strange to me is that before the change, everything worked. Another symptom is that the AC doesn't get cold. I live in the Caribbean, so I think my fan should be extra cold. There are 2 types, standard and extra. But everywhere I read, says that the fan in this car rarely fails. The mechanic says that the fan never enter in high mode, resulting in overheating.

Sounds like air in the system - was it purged properly?

 

The mechanic says that was properly purged. But the thing with the AC gave me the impression that wasn’t purge correctly. I will ask him again to redo the process. Thanks DJS, keep you posted!

 

Surely the AC and engine cooling systems are separate?

 

Good point, I was thinking heat, not cooling. The accessory drive belt would be another suspect, though that would throw a code for lack of charging (alternator).

 

Hi, the only code that it throws is due to the disconnection of the Start/Stop function, due to the inconvenience of turning it off all the time. But another thing the mechanic told me was that one sensor reports a temp of 130F and the other goes up to 230F and the highest fan speed doesn't kick in. I don't know which sensor goes with which temperature.

 

Hello, today the mechanic changed a temperature sensor, which I think is located in the front of the car. It may be near the thermostat. The car continues with the same behavior. With the diagnostic machine, he was able to bring the fan to 99% speed, but it didn't last long like that, it quickly dropped to 25%, still indicating that it was overheating. Also unlike the first day I ran it after having changed the parts, when turning it off the fan stayed on high for a while, now when turning it off, the fan also turns off, even though it is overheated.

 

I know this is an old post but thought I would let everyone know JLR are now producing the aluminum pipes again. I found this post on a Rover Forum. I have also been told Jaguar has done the same.

Are you saying A person who has a Jaguar F-Type sports car, and in my case it happens to be the R model, you can choose to go to a Jaguar dealership and have the service department install genuine Jaguar part which is aluminum to replace the plastic parts. Is this correct??

Don't know yet? Only a couple of posts on them so far and for some reason they only have a LR part number and no corresponding Jaguar part number?
No idea if the Jaguar dealers are installing these yet or not?

Hopefully someone can report back if the dealers are doing this? Surprised they have been released at this late date too?

No, Jaguar is not producing metal pipes…but there are JLR dealers who have no problem installing the aluminium versions (my dealer, for one).

 

I am told by someone on the Jaguar F Type Drivers Club on Facebook that the 2025 F Pace SVR has the aluminum pipes fitted. I have not yet been able to confirm this. The link I attached gives the Land Rover part numbers. I have ordered a set that are due in the end of this week.

 

yes they do, the 2025 do have the metal pipes i wrote about it on the XF FORUM

2025 F-pace SVR 575 has OEM Metal pipes for cooling pipes for the SVR a little late in the game but they finally listened after all the videos and discussions us members make, I wished they had listened

 

After reading all of the forums and consulting with the service manager of my Greenville jaguar dealership, I bit the bullet and paid $3000 for new Jaguar coolant pipes and a new water pump to be replaced before failure at 35,000 miles. Their experience that the seam welded plastic pipes would fail by about 75,000 miles if not sooner convinced me. Mine showed some crusting from early seepage. New pipes do not have molding seams.

 

I purchased an older F-type from a main dealer today and met with the service manager to discuss having the coolant system refreshed. I asked if he would install aftermarket aluminium pipes and he advised me that he is pretty sure JLR is now providing aluminium replacement pipes.

 

Update, when the dealer went to order the pipes he was told that no they are in fact a newly designed plastic one, soooooo now I deciding how to proceed.

 

Since the same engine is used in the Range Rover/Land Rover cars, ask the dealer to order the pipes using the LR part number, no?

 

Are you aware of an aluminium one for the LR version of the engine, any chance you have a part number? Thanks in advance.
