Lubricate creaking door handle?

My driver side external door handle creaks a little bit when I pull it to open the door. No biggie but it's completely silent on the rarely used passenger door and on brand new cars so my OCT tells me to do something about it. It's probably just a matter of spraying a bit of silicone or PTFE lubricant in the right spots to silence it. I'd prefer to avoid just spraying loads randomly under/behind the door handle and I don't feel like pulling the door card off to access it from behind.
Did anyone ever deal with this? Any tips on exactly where to add lubricant from the outside?

Yeah, guess I'll go for that. I've also been trawling the workshop manual and didn't find a lot of detail about the construction of the handles there. I found some good pics of spare handles online though that at least show that the hinge area looks pretty well enclosed so it looks pretty safe to give that whole area a good spray of silicone without soaking the whole inside of the door.
