Default Luggage compartment tools

Just purchased a 2014 F-Type Convertible. I have been pouring through the Owners Handbook, but see no mention of the tool(s) under the flap in the luggage compartment. I find a ratchet wrench there and an empty space for something else ( wheel lug adapter maybe?) which I don't find. Am I missing something? I don't have the optional spare tire with my car, but do have the tire pump/bottle which also contains the tow hook.

Thanks! Looks to be a fun car!

next to the battery you should find the key for the wheel locks, the tire goop bottle, and the tow hook (see below). The tire pump bag should have nothing but the tire pump in it and that gets strapped to the side of the luggage compartment with a built-in elastic band.

Sorry for the inverted pic.

The convertable has the pump in a bag sitting in the recessed floor.

Also, under the mat in the passenger footwell, there’s a cover that pops off for one of the fuse boxes. In the cover are tools for raising the roof manually, should it become necessary. Procedure is in the manual. Happily, haven’t had to try that, after 6+ years and 56k miles.

Thanks all! My car is a convertible so a little different than Unhinged I think. Attached are a couple of luggage compartment showing the areas in question. I don't have anything in front of the battery though there is a plastic tie that has been broken so maybe something was attached to that. I don't have a tow hook holder as shown in Unhinged's photo but maybe that's where that was stowed originally. The tool stowage area has a place for the collapsible ratchet wrench and a couple of other spots that are empty in my car. One looks like it could be for a wheel lug key and the other is a shallow conical shape for which I couldn't guess. My car does not have keyed lugs (standard 3/4 - 19mm) .

The equipment layout certainly appears to be substantially different between the coupe and vert based on your pics.

I notice from my photo that the ratchet wrench is actually something else! Maybe another tow hook? I will take a look in the morning.

That silver piece with the eye in the end of it is the front tow hook. If you have another shorter black tow hook, that’s for the rear. That hook should have been discarded after the car was initially shipped. That’s for tying down only. Using it to tow the car from the rear would result in frame damage.

You are correct sir, it is indeed the tow hook! The short one in the tire bag is as you describe. So if nothing else is suppose to reside under the flap, I guess I am complete. Thanks!

Hmmm, methinks, that while I have the aforementioned items, I would nonetheless recommend road service. Whether on your Warranty, through your Insurance Co or AAA, might be your best bet for keeping knuckles un-damaged. There are people for these things. BTW, never, in 5 decades of Jaguar ownership, have I had use for such items.

My tool kit also includes nothing but the tow hook, wheel lock key, AAA card and cell phone. However, year 1 I used it 3 times: once for a speared tire and twice for a blown clutch.

I have the towing as part of my insurance policy. I guess that will have to do. Where I live, it is not infrequent to be out of cell range however. Think I will look into a quality tire plug kit for extra piece of mind.

To be clear, the hook is for vehicle recovery only, not towing. A flatbed is recommended/required. If towing for more than ~10min, you have to manually disable the AT transmission lock, as the transmission automatically goes from N to P after about 10 min. Should be in the manual, though it wasn’t in the original MY14 manual.

As usual, you knowledge on these cars is impressive. That black tow hook was put in the same pouch as my tire air compressor. I had no idea it was only for tie down. Thanks for that bit of information.
