Lugnut Question

Lugnut Question
I recently bought a 2018 F Type R that the dealer had swapped wheels on (don’t ask). Car originally came with 20” blade wheels with carbon fiber blades but now has 19 inch 10 spoke silver OEM wheels.
I bought a set of used 20 inch storm wheels to use but started thinking...are all lugnuts the same? Can I use what I have or for some reason would I need lugnuts specific to the wheels?
I wouldn’t think so but just wanted to confirm. Thanks in advance for your help.

The lugnuts you have should work fine.
That said, if they are the hollow kind of lugnuts (not sure if they put these on the newer Jags anymore) you may want to change them for the solid Gorilla ones or equivalent. The hollow ones are more prone to getting broken during tire changes. I wouldn’t say lugnut failure is common, but it’s also not uncommon.
All the best.

Thanks for the info. You wouldn’t happen to have a link to the proper black ones, would you? 😊

Scroll down a little to the Jaguar 19 mm hex listing, and the black ones are 73138JBC.
I got a set of these two years ago and they have been great.
Being solid nuts they don't have the well known problem of OEM Jag nuts where the cap swells and eventually breaks off when you go to undo them.

I use a plastic sleeved socket which helps a bit.
But I suspect you have removed and refitted yours hundreds of times!
And possibly with a rattle gun whereas all mine are done by hand.

Dunno about that, I have removed and refitted mine a dozen or so times and no paint chipping at all.

Looking through the Gorilla listings just now I might just have found one that works, the Toyota Black Chrome ones #73631TBC on this page: Gorilla Automotive Products
The lock nut remover probably takes a 21 mm socket instead of the stock Jag 19 mm size but that shouldn't be a huge problem, it just means you need to carry two sockets instead of one in your tool kit.

I don’t necessarily need locking lugs. My F Type isn’t a daily driver. Driven mostly for fun. Stays in my garage when I’m not using it. Is it possible my wheels could be stolen? Sure. But not likely due to how/where/when I use it.

They also look a lot shinier than the ones we have been talking about.
Maybe that is the explanation why the finish is suffering on yours but not on mine?
