Interesting, I have mineral seats in my 2014 V6S. Is that no longer an option?

Nope, not according to the Configurator (USA), just Cirrus and Jet for the sport seats. If you want more color options, 2-tone, Red, Ivory, contrast stitch, you have to upgrade to the Performance seats. Mineral is not shown. Camel is a conundrum? It is not on the configurator, but some say you can still get it by special request.

Felt the seat seam for the first time today. I think it's a combination of losing some weight and wearing blue jeans. I've pretty much been wearing shorts since I got the car in May and pants just a few times. But it is the thick seam of blue jeans that is noticeable.

My wife who complains about everything, just loves the performance seats even better than her X3. She loves the lumbar supports and the bolsters and the fact that you can program the passenger seat.

I can't tell you how many custom motorcycle seats I have purchased and my rear still hurts. The seats in my R fortunately don't hurt but I am concerned when sliding in you catch the center stitching and worried that over time will show considerable wear or even tear.

Neither my wife nor I have had any comfort issues with the seam in the leather performance seats, even on longer (2+ hour) drives. I suppose it depends on how you orient yourself over them or something.

I do see how dragging across the seam over time could potentially lead to fatigue of the leather and/or the stitching in that area since it does stick out a bit. However, I expect to see more wear on the leather of the seat area nearest to the doors.

All in all, I still prefer the Suedecloth/Alcantara seats which don't have that seam, but my preference is more about the feel of the material than comfort issues.

The seam is actually indented and not raised. I don't feel it at all. If it were raised beyond the seat level I might see a problem.

It's not the center seam that's the problem, it's the 2 raised beads on either side.
