Hi, guys!

Proud new owner of a 15 F-Type R. Loving the car so far and slowly getting to know all its quirks and features.

I was surprised to learn that oil changes are required every year, or 16,000 miles (whatever comes first). Isn’t 16,000 miles a long time to go for an oil change, or is that fairly typical for a car of this caliber?

Also, how frequently should I be getting tire rotations? My F-Type is RWD.

Thank you!

Yep, 16,000 miles or 12 months is way too long for an F-Type R but those periods are becoming the norm for high end / high performance cars.
It seems to me that many manufacturers are engaged in a "war" over who has the longest service intervals as though that is a good thing and/or it saves the customer lots of money and/or it "saves the environment", which is BS on all counts.
There is no doubt you should change the oil at least twice as often as scheduled as the AJ133 (and the AJ126) is very sensitive to oil quality and cleanliness.
The tyres on an F-Type don't get rotated, as in swapped front to rear, as they are a staggered set-up, ie bigger/wider tyres on the rear. At most you could swap them side to side on each axle but that would achieve 4/5 of f-all. The most important thing is to make sure the wheels are aligned properly followed by correct tyre pressures, many reports of tyres wearing out way too early due to poor alignment and/or pressures.

Factory interval is dog poo, use the correct oil and do it at least once a year or every 5-7000 miles.

Might be too much but you know you have done the least when things do go south.

Rotation not recommended due to staggered fitment, and if you are driving proper, you will wear the tires out before your second rotation.

There are many threads here regarding oil & filter changes. If you are the least bit mechanically inclined I highly suggest buying a Mityvac for just under $100 and then doing your oil & filter changes yourself. every 5000 miles or annually, whichever comes first. There are YouTube videos showing the procedure if you are a bit apprehensive.

Doing and oil & filter change with the top extraction method is very easy and doesn't even require things like ramps or a jack and jackstands to get underneath the car to do it the traditional way. One you have purchased the Mityvac, you can do an oil & filter change for about $125 using approved oil and a factory filter. And it's nice to bond with your car by doing maintenance, you can also check on your brake fluid and coolant level and eyeball everything under the hood looking for coolant leaks or other problems which you should be doing monthly anyway.
Enjoy your new Jag !

While 16k miles or a year sounds long - these engines have also been used in Land Rover and Range Rover vehicles for many years with the same oil change interval. And there are many, many of those that do far more miles than a typical F Type. So I agree it seems like a no regret to do it more frequently. But many high mileage RR and LR cars seem to suggest that 16k miles is ok too..
