Manual Transmission panned

The give away is the premise that a manual gearbox is an archaic attempt to pander at. A narrow market segment that is whimsical and fickle.
I am guessing it's auto industry writers like him whose constant whining about "why do we have to shift" that made manual gearboxes so rare.
Still waiting to form an opinion on a production unit.

Kudos to Jag for pandering to my demographic! We'll have to wait a few more months (3 to be exact) to determine if they executed adequately.

I don't think I've posted this before: I'm 6'1" with relatively long arms, and when I sat in the show car in Detroit and shifted through the gears I found my elbow made a lot of contact with the center console when shifting from an odd gear to an even gear. Pretty much solidified my choice to get the R. I did properly adjust the seat first as well.

A short shifter will reduce required arm movement.
The console on my '84 Vette was extremely high. In fact my arm would rest on the center console, but since the throw was so short, I really only had to move my wrist.
For me, part of the fun will be the challenges of resolving the shortcomings.
Engineer's motto: if it ain't broke, find a reason to fix it.

That's an issue not only with the console but also with the throw.

To each their own...
Guys,
Yes the manual transmission will increase the 0-60 times, and perhaps be less economical (or have more CO2 emissions)...
... but, it's just a different driving experience. Shift-throw distance aside, it'll be fun to heel-toe, throw the tranny into 2nd, blip the throttle and power out of a corner.
With the F-type's exhaust, that likes to crackle and pop, it'll add a different flavour to driving the car...
.. just my $0.02.

Yeah, that freaky "agricultural" comment had me laughing. You notice that all of the reviewers are driving the same prototype car in roughly the same spot? No one is going to know what this thing is made of until a production model hits the streets.
I know that given the number of orders among this group, at least one will likely be in the first delivery wave. I intend to do my own "review" as soon as I get it out of the dealer's lot.
I suspect that given how the motor seems to bubble, pop and roar that having the clutch will allow an "on demand" petrol-orchestra of joy. But I guess we find out this summer.

+1. I'm guessing, based on conversations in other threads, yours and mine will be among the first wave and probably on the same boat.
