Hello guys, just won a 2015 f type r auction on carsandbids, the car is located in pikesville Maryland, trying to find a shop for a pre purchase inspection before i hand over the check.

I’m specifically concerned about the alignment since the first owner (not the current owner) has 7 alignments done/checked within 2 years.

Any recommendation?

If everything checks out i will post pics next week, can’t wait to hop back into this baby!

Just a wild guess but doesn't that suggest a steering problem not resolved by an alignment??
How long did the current owner have the car after the previous owner's alignment phase?

 

I can't be helpful on an MD shop, but the alignment frequency may just be a meticulous owner / slapdash alignment jobs. I've taken another car for alignment 3 times 1 year because that tech from time to time doesn't center the steering wheel (though looked centered on the rack), which wasn't obvious until actual highway driving sometime later, so I returned two more times.

it could be anything really, a bad tire/wheel, incompetent shop, owner being meticulous, suspension or even frame damage. Current owner is saying the car drives fine no issue.

just looked at the carfax again and it’s actually 3 owners total, first owner was a lease, nothing special there.

second owner got 7 alignments done/checked within their almost 3 years ownership, I’m assuming the first one was done for the pre delivery package, and the last one was done for the pre delivery package for the 3rd owner(also nothing concerning here).

the cars info and carfax can still be viewed on cars and bids if anyone wanna see it, it’s the most recently finished red 2015 R.

I actually worked out the kinks and took the babe home today!

Hunt valley euro car did the pre purchase inspection and i can’t be any happier, not only were mechanical issues pointed out (there were a few), cosmetic issues were also included, they pointed out 2 tiny dings on the door and peeling wrap on the grille that i completely missed.

An alignment were also performed and the result was assuring, only the front toe were out by 0.01 and 0.02 deg.


Driving it home, it’s every bit i remember an f type was, excited to be back, finally😌
