Default MaxCare extended warranty on 2015 V8 S

Hey all,

I'll be a first time Jaguar owner. I'm having a 2015 F type V8 S convertible shipped to me from Carmax. It has 30k miles and appears in pristine condition with only one prior owner and no blemishes on Carfax report... They're offering me a MaxCare extended warranty for $3500 for 3 years/100k miles which I feel like is a steal if it will indeed cover unexpected malfunctions, etc given the expense of Jaguar repairs. My reservation is that I buy it, I need something repaired and they are very challenging to deal with and don't cover anything. Does anyone have experience with MaxCare?

Thanks!

I've never used it personally, but have always heard good things about their MaxCare plans and the service.
I do think that seems quite a bit pricey though- Is the coverage an additional 100k miles (so to an odo of 130k) or up to 100k? Either way, that's a lot of driving in 3 years. I'd look for a more realistic mileage total over more years if possible.
Are you financing through them (or paying cash) or financing through someone else? I just purchased by 2014 V6S with 29k miles this past fall, and my credit union got me a 4 year, 48k additional miles (78k odometer) bumper to bumper warranty with $100 deductible for $2,050. I can service it wherever i choose, and they even recommend the JLR dealer. I've used the same warranty on previous cars and have had zero issues.
IMHO I'd shop around a bit, and maybe try to negotiate if you can.
Good luck!

I didn't realize you could negotiate with the Maxcare. I'll have to see on that. I'm paying cash for it so I don't have that credit union option. I'll probably only put on 3-5k miles/year since I'll just drive it for fun Friday-Sunday as a second car that will be garage kept. I should also add that I live in a city of 150,000 people and there is no Jaguar dealer to do services but there are 2 Jag-certified shops. I guess the more I think about it, if I'm only putting on 3-5k miles per year maybe I don't need the extended warranty... The tough thing is they make you purchase the Maxcare before you leave the lot with it and once you leave the lot you can't purchase it at anytime later even if it's just the next day.

because of where i live my provider is always listed as "Member's Choice"- www.mrclaims.net
In FL the "provider and administrator" on my forms is listed as Automotive Warranty Services of Florida.
But yes, I have used this warranty on numerous vehicles.

So I guess the lowest miles MaxCare is up to 75k miles and they're all 5 year warranties, whichever comes first. They're also transferrable if I were to sell. The car finally arrived so they were able to give me actual quotes:

Deductible $50 - $3,729
Deductible $150 - $3,179
Deductible $300 - $2,729
Deductible $500 - $2,449

Can't decide if that's a good deal. I'm going to checkout the other ones tomorrow

After Carmax spend upwards of 50K fixing Doug DeMuro's on his Range Rower, I would say go for it!

Always look for the best deal, but Nothing on a Jaguar is cheap! Take it from someone that has spent tens of thousands of dollars on repairs, you need a warranty if it’s reasonable, and a good warranty is reasonable at $3500 for these cars!

I meant shops that work on Jags. Where I live there are only two shops that will work on them. I misspoke

Well I ended up getting the most basic Maxcare with the highest deductible and to 75k miles. I figure even if I don't use it it will be worth it for piece of mind

Are you able to take it to a dealer for work or does it have to go back to Carmax? I'm in the market for an F-Type and the MaxCare keeps popping up as a reliable non-CPO warranty. I'm not sure I want to pay the $6-$10k premium for the CPO. It also looks like they give you 90 days or 4,000 miles with the purchase. Interesting.

my experience with the extended warranty has been great. Just speaking on the one I have which cost around $3000, the warranty has paid out already $6500 in repairs. It has paid for itself and some more and it hasn't expired yet. I'm pro warranty for sure. Good luck with your purchase!
